I would think that 6 books in would be enough for his "woe is me" attitude. It brings down the stories. I think I'll pass on the next ones, as he can stop himself from being a self absorbed ass every chance he gets. No wonder Betty left, good for her.

A lot of fun!

This was a bit of a surprise in many regards. The story is excellent, as well as the narrator. I don't see it listed as part of a series but without very much conclusion regarding the plot or romantic sub plots it's questionable. It doesn't stand on its own very well, so if you are looking for closure, wait and see if there is a sequel. The humor in the book is spot of in my opinion. It's not every other sentence but when it is there it's funny and surprising.

My main gripe is with the romance. Or lack thereof. We have 2 people who are attracted to one another. They both say as much. However it is teased relentlessly throughout the book with no advancement. That's a let down and a detriment to the story.

This could have been amazing

If only the MC wasn't a weak willed, self loathing basket case who can't have a single conversation without whining. It's even more shocking that a woman author would write such a horrible female MC. If perpetuating how women need to seek validation from a man in order to feel good about themselves is what you are into, please listen. If you like female MCs who are strong in mind and character and can think for themselves, look elsewhere. You won't find a single character like that here. This could have been GREAT. Instead it's below mediocre.

The performance was okay. I didn't feel the voice went with the main character at all, but I think that's more of a me thing. The range if different voices was easily noticeable and well done.
Honestly, I would not waste a credit. I will be returning it if possible.

MC is a crybaby

This would be amazing with an MC that didn't act like a spoiled 12 year old. Arrogant, naive and annoying. It never gets better, its just his terrible personality. So, if you hate stupid MC's then skip this at all cost. The performance is great as is the norm with Kafer reading.

Since Amazon won't tell you these things, here you go. I didn't anticipate these in this story, and was disappointed in finding them. Hesitant to try the next book. The performance is AMAZING. She is SO good!

Stupid MC

These would be great if the MC didn't repeatedly give known bad guys options to kill him. "Oh hey bad guy, how are you? I'm going to notify you I have a weapon, then telegraph me raising it to sight you in. Pretty please let me arrest you. Oh no! I need backup, the bad guys are firing at me?!" This is every single interaction he has. Even if he has the drop. Even if this is the 4th time he has encountered the same bad guy. Even if all previous times the bad guy has tried to kill him. Over and over and over. Gets old.

Author should give up writing

First if all, the narrator was pretty good. I liked the voice for the mc, but not so much the other characters.
Now, the author is like a freshman in highschool who discovered a philosophy book, then immediately wrote a story. It's all exposition and monologue with random thoughts that make little to no sense. Stream of consciousness written down. Then, to spice things up they have the mc make every horrible decision they could think of, all while defending their faulty logic. Skip this one, you can find better free stories on any audio platform available.

MC Is a whiny, entitled crybaby who spends much of the book almost pissing herself in fear. Crying to anyone who will listen to her self depreciation. Spend your credit elsewhere.

"Terrible MC, Amazing Story"

This would easily be one of the best books of this genre I've read in a long time, if only the MC wasn't a narcissistic, entitled, delusional idiot. Seriously, I'm not sure she could be any worse. It would take considerable effort to write a worse character. We can only hope there isn't an actual person alive that she was modeled after. If so, she would never make it to the age of 40 like the MC. Someone would have murdered her long before. Rightly so.
