My favorites out of the series.
Revisado: 07-21-15
What did you like best about The Last Guy Breathing? What did you like least?
I loved their snarky relationship moments. Most of the time when writers try to create these "contentious" relationship they end of either lame-where they make up in 5 minutes or you wonder why they are together at all. But she did it really well, I thought. There was a slow build to liking to caring to loving, even though most of the action takes place over fairly short period of time.
My least favorite thing is probably the same complaint I've had with all three books (although less so with this one) is that the ending feel a little anti-climatic. But I think she maybe going for a more realistic feel-without things wrapped up in a bow. It it does feel a bit like a balloon being blown up throughout the book but instead of pop it slowly deflates.
Have you listened to any of Matt Baca’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He narrates the other two in the series. He does a good job. Distinctly voices and non-annoying women's voices-which is sometimes an issue.

Good series.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I like this one better than the first, though I did enjoyed that one too. It had a nice build up with the past relationship. And no meet-cute (I say this as a good thing) though I guess it would be a remeet cute. Good low level angst.
Which scene was your favorite?
The Jesse's parents party where Aaron finally starts seeing things clearly. I also like that the characters from the other books are carrying on their lives in a "realistic" fashion. Things are changing for them even when they "off-screen" and their actions aren't necessarily effecting the main characters of the current book.
Any additional comments?
I liked both Jesse and Aaron (though at times I wanted to slap Aaron upside the head). They were sweet together. It's a nice romance with some family drama and angst. I did like that no everything was wrapped up in a perfect bow. BUT I do wish there had been a bit more resolution with Aaron's family at least. Aaron's mom put the s on mother. But she was sweet with him but then was SUCH a witch to Jesse, who'd already had enough parent issues. I would have like to see her eventually welcoming and apologizing to Jesse and seeing what jerks her "friends" were. But it's very nice read.

Nice guy Anthony has a sudden “friends with benefits” relationship with a hot military man. Anthony’s sex life is better than ever. It would be perfect - if only he didn’t crave more. The chemistry between them is on fire, but Anthony is uncertain of asserting what he wants, at least beyond the bedroom. Ex-military and new to the small town of Glamour, Dean doesn’t do relationships, though he is supposed to become his niece’s guardian.

Really liked it.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I thought it was really good. The characters were likeable without being TOO perfect. There wasn't easy solutions to problems. Tough choices and sacrifices had to be made and it gave it a more realistic feel.
If you’ve listened to books by Skylar M. Cates before, how does this one compare?
I've read this one and the sequel now and am half way through the 3rd. And with all of them, I've had moments where I really liked it. And then it seems to be building to something squee worth maybe and then.....it goes back to being really good-never quite hitting that indefinable quality that puts them over the top.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I liked it a lot. The concept was a little different but it was done believably. And it was cute. There relationship was done pretty well. They were cute together-in both Lance's form. I really liked both characters. They were both a little awkward in a good way. I liked the side characters as well. The investigation scenes towards the end of the book seemed out of place to me. They didn't really fit into the rest of the book that was fairly lighthearted. I really liked the book but it did wrap everything up really quickly. I would have liked more time with the characters, but it didn't bother me as much as it did in Easton's other book "The Trouble with Tony"

Didn't even finish it.
Revisado: 04-20-15
What would have made Her Two Dads better?
I'm not sure. The writing was okay, I guess. Sort of. It just was fairly boring. There was not really any drama and WAY too much time spent of baby shopping. And description of baby things. Another new parent might find this stuff interesting but I can't imagine anyone else wanting that much description of minute details.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ariel Tachna again?
Probably not.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I feel bad but she should NOT narrate books. She has a very pleasant voice but there was very little inflection. It was very monotone. I kept falling asleep. She was the main reason I couldn't make it through the book. I probably would have finished it if it would have be it written form- just to see if if got better but I just couldn't bring myself to listen anymoe.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom. It might not be fair to the written form, where I probably (definitely) would have skimmed over the boring parts but I couldn't take the monotone anymore.

Historia
Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

Fantastic Romantic Comedy. One of my favorites.
Revisado: 04-20-15
Would you listen to Tell Me It's Real again? Why?
I've listened to this book dozens of times. It always makes me laugh. Paul and Vince are just genuinely cute together. They really enjoy each other, which it rarer than it should be in romance novels. I think that this why I have a weakness for friends-to-lover books (which this isn't) but this book manages to have that same feel, even though they just met and are getting to know each other.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tell Me It's Real?
SO MANY THINGS! But the first date is definitely one of my favorite parts. Poor Paul. Nothing goes right, but he manages to be so adorable despite his flaws. And Vince's appreciation is just written so believably. Despite Paul constantly questioning his own appeal, the reader can see why Vince falls.
What about Michael Lesley’s performance did you like?
He was perfect! I'll admit this was one of the first audiobooks I listened to, so though I always enjoyed it, I didn't truly appreciate how good it was. Until I heard so others. EEK! I've become obsessed with audiobooks since so I've heard many great narrators since but at time I don't think I realized how good Michael Lesley comic timing was. Too many of the narrators walk all over the jokes. Not giving the appropriate pauses or using the correct tone of voice. Too earnest when they should be wry. ETC. I think Lesley actually found a few jokes. And his voices matched my image of the characters perfectly (unlike the cover which isn't really how I picture either of them.)
