Historia
The story involves a huge diamond, the moonstone, originally stolen from an Indian shrine. The gem is given to an English girl on her 18th birthday but disappears that same night. What follows is a spellbinding mystery that to this day has the power to draw the listener into its world of danger, suspense, and surprise.

Would you try another book from Wilkie Collins and/or Walter Covell and cast ?
I will deliberately avoid Walter Covell at all costs
What was most disappointing about Wilkie Collins’s story?
It seems a shallow adventure book with little depth.... but I haven't finished yet so withholding judgement
What didn’t you like about Walter Covell and cast ’s performance?
This guy has a really annoying Rowan Atkinson type voice. In addition he starts every section very mellow and increases in volume and speed as he proceeds. There is no logic to this that has to do with the story.
Any additional comments?
Finally the audio quality itself is poor. There are passages where the sound is distorted because it is being recorded to loud, there are other places where the sound drifts in and out from muffled to crisper as if played back on a worn out tape recorder.

Historia
Graham Greene explores corruption and atonement in this penetrating novel set in 1930s Mexico during the era of Communist religious persecutions. As revolutionaries determine to stamp out the evils of the church through violence, the last Roman Catholic priest is on the lam, hunted by a police lieutenant. Despite his own sense of worthlessness—he is a heavy drinker and has fathered an illegitimate child—he is determined to continue to function as a priest until captured.

Lousy recording quality of bad narration
Revisado: 10-08-12
What disappointed you about The Power and the Glory?
It was difficult to listen past the distortion of the recording and the awful voice of the narrator. Sounds like it was recorded in the 50's with a cheap microphone. Turning down all the bass and mid tones and turning up the high eq made it a little more bearable. Need to stop trusting audible and always preview the recording first....
What did you like best about this story?
The book itself is amazing have read it any times
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bernard Mayes?
Anyone with a more human sounding voice. Mr. Mayes sounds like a dying frog.
