Just as satisfying as the Hunger Games
Revisado: 03-26-25
The narrator was perfect! I felt like it was listening to Hamitch the whole time! The story was great and have excellent reference points to the other books without seeming contrived. Loved it!

I thought the writing was great and enjoyed the story. I didn’t realize the main character had epilepsy and I thought it was so enlightening to learn about the challenges and problem solving that’s done for people facing that. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn!

Life in the big city just wasn't her jam and now she's back in Hickory Falls, working at the family diner and helping her mom after she took a tumble. Lesley longs to build a life here, working at the cafe, selling her handmade ornaments and ... er, apparently reviving her high school crush on her best friend’s older brother. Only one problem, her mom wants her to leave Hickory Falls far behind.

This plot line was unattractive and sad
Revisado: 07-29-24
This was not funny. These are the dumbest characters with the saddest family. It’s full of bizarre feminist fronts that are forced and don’t fit the plot line. The girl is just selfish and the guy is flat. So strange when the other books she writes are usually a bit silly but still good.

Historia
Anna Vere has escaped to the Cotswolds for Christmas to try to heal from her broken engagement and, far worse, her broken dreams. When her reserved room at a bed-and-breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house...and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath. What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together.

I didn’t enjoy the story. It had very little to do with Christmas. The characters were all so strange and needed therapy. The narrator had an odd inflection on all of her words that didn’t make sense.

The Narrator ruined this book
Revisado: 11-07-21
I feel awful saying something negative about someone doing work, but I’m shocked that this was even produced. The tone and inflections during the entire book sounded like the character’s were in a bad mood and sarcastic the whole time. When there were kind moments it was hard to distinguish because of the snarky voice. If you’re sensitive to being annoyed, I would really say to read the book! That being said, I feel like this book is better than the last many from Grisham. I’ve felt like he’s had less and less character development in the last books and this has much more.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.
