Do you like space sims?
Revisado: 12-13-18
listening to this I felt like I was vicariously experiencing a space simulator. maybe a business slash trade in space simulator. this is not a bad thing I actually found the business talk interesting, but know there is a lot of it. I'd have to say the main character feels a little bit stilted. she is in general a little stiff and the rest of the characters aren't any better. that said she does develop throughout the book. if you're curious what a well-developed take on Interstellar business looks like I'd recommend this book.

Historia
In this sequel to The Princess and the Goblin, Curdie has returned to his life as a miner and has dismissed the supernatural happenings of the past, believing them to have been a dream. When Curdie callously wounds a pigeon, his conscience leads him to Princess Irene's mystical great-great-grandmother for help. She has him plunge his hands into a pile of rose petals that burns like fire. Extraordinarily, this grants him the power to see what kind of "animal" a person is at heart.

A little too much medicine in the dogfood.
Revisado: 08-14-18
You may have heard that if you put medicine in dog food the dog won't even know he's eating medicine. Well in the case of this story the allegorical elements are so obvious that it would seem the plot itself takes second chair. The story almost seems hindered by the multitude of moral lessons it carries. I'd say the medicine to dogfood ratio is a tad high in this one.

Historia
The discovery of a secret stairway running to the top of the castle leads Princess Irene to a revelation even more weighty than the fiendish plans of the goblin community that miner boy Curdie has discovered. Will the Princess and Curdie understand the significance of what they have found, or will Harelip and the goblins successfully execute their evil plan?

Why haven't I heard of this before?
Revisado: 08-10-18
I found the story very enjoyable and refreshing. None of the characters had hidden dark secrets or agendas, but the story didn't need any if that to keep my attention. The narrator for this audio book was very good too except maybe his princess voice was a bit shrill (imo of course). I'm looking forward to the sequel.
