Historia
How did a libertine who lacks even the most basic knowledge of the Christian faith win 81 percent of the white evangelical vote in 2016? And why have white evangelicals become a presidential reprobate's staunchest supporters? Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping account of the last 75 years of white evangelicalism, showing how American evangelicals have worked for decades to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism.

The truth likely lies somewhere between
Revisado: 02-11-21
This is a book worth reading. If you have grown up in the church it is wise for us to question what we know and ask ourselves if there is truth to these claims. Obviously, there is too much to ignore to just pass it off as someone’s opinion.

Historia
Clear, concise, and penetrating, Practical Religion contains a series of writings about the daily duties, dangers, experiences, and privileges of all who profess and call themselves true Christians. Ryle explains that a "practical religion" is not a religion of works, but rather one in which those who are saved can put their faith into practice.

Prophetic
Revisado: 01-22-21
It is hard not to listen to this and think that Ryle is speaking of modern times. I chuckled to think what he means by life moving quickly and needing to slow down. If anything, this book is much needed during this age in which we live. Christians will find this book challenging yet helpful. Those who are curious of the Christian faith may be surprised by the assertions made.

Historia
The half century following the American Revolution witnessed the transformation of American Christianity. The passion for equality, says Hatch, brought about a crisis or religious authority in popular culture, introduced new and popular forms of theology, witnessed the rise of minority religious movements, reshaped preaching, singing, and publishing, and became a scriptural foundation for 19th century American individualism.

Wow, eye opening
Revisado: 01-06-21
I think that this is an area of American history and Christian history that seriously needs more discussion. It has made me think more deeply about the roots of my faith.

Historia
In this definitive biography, renowned Bible scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author N. T. Wright offers a radical look at the apostle Paul, illuminating the humanity and remarkable achievements of this intellectual who invented Christian theology - transforming a faith and changing the world. For centuries, Paul, the apostle who "saw the light on the Road to Damascus" and made a miraculous conversion from zealous Pharisee persecutor to devoted follower of Christ, has been one of the church's most widely cited saints.

Great!

I may not have agreed with everything but his argumentation makes you slow down and consider the Jewishness of Paul and Jesus and subsequently what their tracking means in the broader context.
