This was just what I was looking for
Revisado: 03-04-21
I studied Chinese about 10 years ago and have recently begun re-learning it. I'm quite busy though and it's hard to dedicate time daily lessons at this point, and I also want to make sure I'm going to stick with it before I commit financially to something like that. I had the idea to just try some immersion for free by listening to this podcast while I am doing non-meeting things at work, kind of in the background. After one day of listening to two podcasts, I woke up the next morning and began remembering all kinds of things I had forgotten from 10 years ago - it definitely is "sinking in" and tapping into the deeper parts of my mind.
Aside from that, it's quite entertaining most of the time, and I enjoy the way it goes back and forth from English to Chinese. I've slowly started to add a few other things into my learning, like the Drops app (5 free minutes of vocab every day), and the more I listen to the podcast the more I am wanting to do - the more I am inspired to continue learning.
If I could make one suggestion for the hosts, I would love if you could provide the website names (or a link somewhere on your website under "resources") for some of the things you all reference. You often talk about good resources to help people learn, but I have had a hard time finding some of those just by Googling - but I would like to find them! Just a thought...
While this podcast probably won't ever just teach you Chinese if you do nothing but listen to it, I think this is a wonderful supplement to other learning you are doing. I've also been doing a Paul Noble audio program through Audible and I was having a hard time remembering some of it when I was "away from" it. Now that I've started listening to this podcast daily, everything I'm learning is sticking better in my memory - I think of it way more often, and it's becoming more natural. And you WILL learn some things just by listening as well.
Thank you for hosting this podcast - I really enjoy it! If you're an English speaker wanting to immerse yourself in more Chinese language, this is a great, free way to do so.

Creativity, Inc. is a manual for anyone who strives for originality and the first-ever all-access trip into the nerve center of Pixar Animation - into the meetings, postmortems, and “Braintrust” sessions where some of the most successful films in history are made. It is, at heart, a book about creativity - but it is also, as Pixar cofounder and president Ed Catmull writes, “an expression of the ideas that I believe make the best in us possible”.

Outstanding for Managers
Revisado: 01-24-20
I think most people will classify this as a book only for creative production departments, but this book is one of the best I’ve ever read on leadership in general, with many practical ways to fight for excellence throughout the life of a company. One of my favorite books that I will return to regularly.

Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Excellent, wished for more
Revisado: 08-06-18
This was the first "book" I've "read" by Michael Lewis. I found it very engaging and really liked the way he wove the stories together in the larger narrative. My only critique was that I wished it was a full length book because I didn't want it to be over so quickly. I am definitely going to check out more of his work.

Historia
People often say, "I feel like I've been run over by a truck." Katie actually was. On a sunny morning bike ride in Brooklyn, 24-year-old Katie McKenna was forever changed when she was run over by an 18-wheeler. Being crushed under a massive semi wasn't something Katie should have survived. After 10 hours of emergency surgery, she woke to find herself in a body and a life that would never be the same.

Incredible book
Revisado: 11-23-17
This book was so amazing! I had a hard time making myself start it because I knew how difficult some of it would be, and it was. But it was also so much more touching and well-written than I expected too. SO glad I read this! A story that will be with me for a lifetime.

Historia
The Reformers viewed the gospel as not merely one thing among many in the life of a church but rather the means by which the church exists. When the gospel is rightly declared and applied to God’s people, the church becomes "a creature of the Word". She understands, embraces, and lives out the reality of Christ’s birth, life, death, and resurrection in more than her doctrinal statement. The gospel impacts all the church is and does.

Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

Any additional comments?
Many other reviewers have noted how much Wil Wheaton's narration adds to this, and I couldn't agree more. Very fun read if you like mind-boggling questions. One of the most enjoyable books I've read.

My New Favorite Series
Revisado: 06-16-17
Any additional comments?
I'm not a big sci-fi person, but after my first book in this series I was absolutely hooked. I immediately read all the rest of the series. The author does a great job writing realistic dialogue, sarcasm, and keeps things moving. Ray Porter is amazing and I will never be able to remember this book without his voice as Bob's. This is one of the most enjoyable books (and series) that I've come across and, though I rarely do this, I'll probably listen to this multiple times in the future.

Good, but disjointed
Revisado: 01-09-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This was somewhat time well spent. If I didn't hear him delivering the same presentation with the same illustration more than once in the same book, I would think it was time better spent (and it would have been LESS time spent as well). But for how long this audio book was, I didn't appreciate having to listen to multiple illustrations more than once. Seemed like a waste of time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secrets of Closing the Sale?
His illustrations are the most memorable parts. He is a great storyteller and his stories are very entertaining for the most part.
Did Zig Ziglar and Tom Ziglar do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I'm not sure what this means...
Did The Secrets of Closing the Sale inspire you to do anything?
It gave me some good basic framework to put into practice. I don't think I'll be using "The ____ Close" or specific things like that. But it was good to hear things like they say No because they don't Know enough yet. So I am inspired to focus more on listening to the customer and handling objections in a better way.
Any additional comments?
It was somewhat distracting the way this was edited together. It's Zig on the stage, then it's Zig in the studio, then back on the stage, then Tom in studio. You can tell when they edit out things in a presentation - the audio wasn't handled very smoothly. Overall I think the material is good, but this didn't really seem like a book at all, just a random collection of his best presentations with Tom randomly popping in. This could have been done better.
