Amazing!
Revisado: 08-06-18
I got so sucked into this novel--and I loved the way Jenny Sterlin sounded as all of the characters. I definitely looked for other books from this series and got all of them after hearing this (recommended by a friend). It's cute and quirky and has heart. Nice to see in a fast and easy fantasy novel.

I can't believe they changed the plot of this wonderful sequel. Sarah is a serious female role model. The book is excellent.

Historia
By 1920, the movies had suddenly become America's new favorite pastime and one of the nation's largest industries. Never before had a medium possessed such power to influence; yet Hollywood's glittering ascendancy was threatened by a string of headline-grabbing tragedies - including the murder of William Desmond Taylor, the popular president of the Motion Picture Directors Association, a legendary crime that has remained unsolved until now.

Very interesting
Revisado: 06-30-16
I felt that this was an interesting and thorough piece on an interesting, tumultuous time in Hollywood. The history of the main cast of characters was also quite interesting. I got caught up in it all, though admittedly at first I got a lot of the characters' names confused. Well worth the listen!

Peter Pan makes more sense
Revisado: 03-13-16
I love a book that gives me a reasonable backstory for something. This hits all the right notes. I kind of feel like I now understand Peter Pan and it is touching, reasonable, rollicking, and fun. I loved this, and I'm not a huge Pan fan. Plus, Jim Dale. Fabulous!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Excellent
Revisado: 09-14-15
If you could sum up The Martian in three words, what would they be?
Edge of seat!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked all of them, though of course you can't help but love our hero, Mark Watne. I really felt all of the characters were interesting and quirky.
What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?
I loved R.C. Bray's accents for every person involved. I felt like he did a lot of work to become each character, and I totally was with him every step of the way.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud a few times. Way funnier than I thought it would be. Very exciting!
Any additional comments?
I got this because I was interested in the topic, but also after reading some of the reviews. One notes there is a bit of swearing, and that reviewer is correct. I was a little nervous because I don't care for excessive swearing, but the reviews were all so glowing (I was intrigued by the McGyver comment), that I decided to try it out. It was *fascinating.* I was glad for the language warning, and I could then mostly overlook it. The story is where it's at! Definitely try this one out.

I had never heard of this series before. If you like good clean mysteries with a dash of vegan culinary delights and a touch of the fantastic, you will like this! It was quirky and fun, and though not every sentence popped, I enjoyed it immensely. In fact, I will be getting the next one! Oh, and the narrator was great, too.

Well done!
Revisado: 07-04-15
I read a review on goodreads that called this a long-winded treatment of Lucas and the films that was good but could have been shortened. Maybe...but I loved the details, the sideways paths, the extra fans, the back history. I learned tons, and recommend to all Star Wars fans. Plus Nick Podehl has a pleasant voice and seems to encompass the text with his own personality. Really enjoyed!!
