Great premise, great execution

Thoroughly enjoyed the disease and the characters. Lots of scenes that I'll be thinking about for a long time.
Characterization was incredible; the author would spend just one chapter with so many different people and I felt like I knew them all well. The disease itself was creative and horrifying.
The horror was great. Knowing more than the characters did made so many scenes that much more intense.
Narrator is awesome; really feels like he's enjoying the story as well, and channels that well.

This book was personally recommended to me by one of its authors, and I cannot recommend it enough. It has given me an invaluable storehouse of tools and pointers that I needed to minimize the mistakes I make as an aspiring author. It's fun to listen to, it's thorough, easy to follow and take notes on, and it even gives you more places to look for more detailed information in specific fields, and they're not all by the same authors. The collaboration between the two authors is great and enriches the book a lot.
One of the biggest things this book did for me, though, was not just instruct and teach me (which it did very well), but inspire me. Like many aspiring authors, I wondered if it was really possible to make a living doing what I love - writing - but this book made it very clear to me that, if you put in the work and the research and you have the talent that you're willing to train, you can pretty consistently succeed in the field of writing.
