Just as strong as the first

I started Flesh & Blood right after finishing before and after. Flesh and Blood was just as good, but was more of an adventure then the first. I appreciated this change in story. I felt like the adventure was a huge pay off from all of the build in this first book. Shanahan once again knocked it out of the park with this novel. Chris Devon is a fantastic narrator. I might have to listen to Shanahan's next book now. Enjoy!

Ben Stone is terrified. He's terrified because he weighs 601 pounds and needs his right leg amputating. He's terrified because a crane will shortly lift him from his fourth-floor flat and lower him 44 feet to an ambulance waiting below. He's terrified because he hasn't been outside in nine years, and he doesn't know who will look after his beautiful dog. He needn't worry, though, because the world is about to end.

Before and After is an excellent listen - 5/5

I received a free copy from author Andrew Shanahan via a tiktok comment section. The story interested me so I decided to check it out on audible. From the start, I was hooked. I have always been a fan of apocalypse stories, heroes journeys, body horror, k9 companionship and survival. This story managed to be all of these and then some. Ben's journey was inspiring, harrowing, and straight up nasty. Shanahan did a magnificent job of building a world in utter destruction. I wept through Ben's journey, and even harder at his past. After finishing my free listen, I joyfully paid for the sequel. I am about half way through Flesh and Blood and am really enjoying it.
Chris Devon is a fantastic narrator. Andrew Shanahan is a talented author and I look forward to checking out his other books.
