The finest whimsical fiction
Revisado: 09-26-23
Might be the most enjoyable thing I’ve read this year! The pacing was great, the whimsical fantasy elements were superb and I really enjoyed the characters!

A nice history
Revisado: 09-20-23
I have been a fan of the brand for a long time but never cared much about their story or founder. So this was a nice history. Nothing earth shattering (and nothing that I haven’t seen mentioned in reddit) but I’d still recommend for a casual fan of the brand!

Ariadne Hui thrives on routine. So what if everything in her life is planned down to the minute: That’s the way she likes it. If she’s going to make partner in Toronto’s most prestigious law firm, she needs to stay focused at all times. But when she comes home after yet another soul-sucking day to find an unfamiliar, gorgeous man camped out in her living room, focus is the last thing on her mind. So charming!
Revisado: 08-15-22
Lily Chu is slowly become one of my favorite story tellers! I really enjoyed The Stand In and loved this one even more! She crafts excellent dialogue with entertaining character development and the perfect amount of humor. And Phillipa Soo does an amaaazing job bringing her characters to life! I hope we see more from both!

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

so many posi vibes
Revisado: 03-09-22
I love Christina, and watching bake club every week during the pandemic has been one of the few lights in the darkness of the past two years. Hearing the book read in her voice and cadence just adds an extra zest of magic to this book. Even of you hate dessert, can't eat carbs, hate sugar, etc etc the authenticity and symbolism she is speaking about when it comes to the every day joy of showing up for yourself and others still comes through. If your spirit needs lifting (I mean who doesn't need that right now) then do yourself a favor and listen to this magical human share her ethos.

Funny, thoughtful, and highly recommended
Revisado: 06-03-20
Knox's writing has this magical ability to suck you in and make crave more. I was a huge fan of his first book and couldn't wait to jump back into his life with this book. The way he writes about his experiences fills you with a sense of nostalgia, because whether or not you've actually been de-pantsed in front of a group of people, the concept of experiencing things like social trauma translates beyond the actual event he describes. This book has acted as a thought provoking prompt for me to ask myself what I should be reconsidering and that concept will stick with me. Even when he talks about sports (YAWN), I still found myself engaged because of his humor and his ability to connect things in unlikely ways. The audiobook highlights his humor in a way that can't be captured on the page and I can’t recommend it enough!
