Historia
One morning, Deming Guo's mother, an undocumented Chinese immigrant named Polly, goes to her job at the nail salon and never comes home. No one can find any trace of her. With his mother gone, 11-year-old Deming is left with no one to care for him. He is eventually adopted by two white college professors who move him from the Bronx to a small town upstate. They rename him Daniel Wilkinson in their efforts to make him over into their version of an "all-American boy".

So mediocre
Revisado: 07-30-22
I am Chinese, I finished it. I seldom dislike books written by Chinese. I did not find this book with much redeeming quality.
The main character is a male. Why is it read by a woman?

This is not a bad start
Revisado: 03-29-22
I read second book, the writer really needs an editor. So much over writing and repetition, the story went all over the place. I’ll give her another chance. I am terribly disappointed.

Worst performances

I would’ve enjoyed this book better if a different reader . Ending is weak . Author clearly knows the subject, some editing is needed, character development weak.

Historia
She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her.... At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman.

Every July I look forward to my two days of guilty pleasure, I know I have two days of pure joy by laying all routine aside, continuously bury into the pleasure of GG’s new activities.
In the dead of winter, I revisit all the previous books related to the most current one. Following spring I get the paper back. The cycle keeps going.
Thank you Daniel Silva for keeping one of the most interesting, imaginative characters in fiction alive in my book world.

Not a thriller writer

The author may be an historian, and a journalist, a writer he is not,
Especially not a thriller writer. I’d say stick to what he knows.
He is probably a decent historian and journalist.

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

I stumbled on to this unbelievable bad book, actually I wouldn’t even called it a “book”. In spit of all the bad reviews, I started reading.
I always finished what I started.
Is this a bad comic book? Really???
Audible shame on you, this is not evening entertaining. You charged money for this book. SHAME on you.
My fault totally for researching. I am sad Audible. I thought you have better standards than this piece of crap.

Although not a fan of the author, I stayed at a hill town in Tuscany, the author ‘s description of the locales are moving.
The miscast for Ms Sobey voice is unfortunate.

Before Gabriel enters
Revisado: 08-06-18
Having been a Daniel Silva fan, I decided I need to read his two debut books. I can see how his writing, and character development improved with each Gabriel Gallon books.
I much rather read his books and keep my own imagination of his main character, Gallon. However, if the pages turn into scripts, I will watch with anticipation, hoping they will not disappoint.

Not a Corey best
Revisado: 06-04-18
This fifth John Corey book is my least favorite. It was saved by the last ten chapter. Corey’s asides got tiresome very quickly. Some editing would really have helped.
