Historia
Her tracks now–as she carried away the girl–led into the wilderness of rocks, some acres in extent, where the going was both difficult and dangerous. The cracks and chasms in between the rocks were masked with ferns, blackberry vines, and a false step, which might easily have resulted in a broken limb, would have been fatal.

Unfortunately reader doesn't do it justice
Revisado: 05-23-24
Amazing story that is unmatched with regard to courage, adventure, and passion for nature. But the reader is so hurky jerky and mechanical that it's almost impossible to listen to and does a huge disservice to Mr Corbett. I can only assume the reader was selected because he does get the native locations and words correctly, but regular speech is not his forte.

couldn't follow it most of the time
Revisado: 01-20-23
I can't blame the reader for his efforts, though a little slower might have helped, and some of the voices were difficult to distinguish. But overall, the story was crap. I couldn't tell who was talking half the time, what part of the story I was in, or even if it was reality or thoughts. don't get me wrong, there was some great literature in there, but that's about it.

terrible story teller
Revisado: 12-31-22
Not sure if it's actually the worst Harrison novel I've read or if the reader was just so terrible as to make it seem that way but I didn't enjoy at all and I usually love Harrison.

Historia
The scion of a family of wealthy timber barons, David Burkett has grown up with a father who is a malevolent force more than a father and a mother made vague and numb by alcohol and pills. He and his sister Cynthia, a firecracker who scandalizes the family at 14 by taking up with the son of their Finnish-Native American gardener, are mostly left to make their own way.

Classic Harrison
Revisado: 12-20-22
Great story that was difficult at times to listen to due to the reader. He read too fast, wasn't effective at reading punctuation, and mispronounced many words.

On the right path but missed the mark
Revisado: 01-04-22
This is a decent book with some great ideas, that forgets about reality. Maybe other parents experiences are different but it didn't move with ours. The reading was almost mediocre, the cadence was off with lots of pauses, like the author was talking down to you instead of to you as a peer.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author Jim Harrison is one of America's most beloved writers, and of all his creations, Brown Dog - a bawdy, reckless, down-on-his-luck Michigan Indian - has earned cult status with readers in the more than two decades since his first appearance. For the first time, Brown Dog gathers all the Brown Dog novellas, including one never before published, into one volume - the ideal introduction (or reintroduction) to Harrison's irresistible Everyman.

multiple readers was frustrating
Revisado: 05-23-21
Great book but it was very annoying trying to get used to different readers for each story. I wish they would have stuck with the same reader throughout.
