The thousand Li series is in my top 10 of favourite books!

The thousand Li series is in my top 10 of favourite books, every time a new one comes out, I end up binging the entire series again. And sometimes in between. And it’s not just because Travis is the best narrator out there, I really love the story, how it shows the divide between rich and poor, politics and a main character with grid.

After Ten Realms from Michael Chatfield, this is my favourite series. When I bought the audiobook I saw a lot of people writing that it was rushed. I disagree. I tied up everything with a neat bow. Sad it’s over.

Feels like MC was tired with the story.

Honestly, like I’ve stated in the reviews of previous books in this series, I love the Ten Realms. But the earlier books had way more content and depth. There was so much content that realms 6 and 7 got 2 books each.
Then book 10 and 11 (realms 8 and 9 was suddenly over half shorter and felt different from the earlier books. Now this book is only a meager 6 hours long. That’s really short. It also felt very out there at times. Far fetched.
All the time alone and suddenly everyone has to have a partner and those that don’t get killed off.
This could have been written better.
It wasn’t a bad story, but in comparison to the previous books it’s a bit meh…

Honestly, I just love these books. At the end of the previous book I cried. I have read these now 4 times already and each time at the end of the previous book and the beginning of this book I cry my eyes out. While I’m sad that the books got re-recorded by Neil Helleger, I preferred Todd Menessess, Neil still manages to make me cry and cheer with the characters. This story is amazing and will most likely stay my favourite story of all time.
Listen or read this book and you’ll understand the title of this review.

I just love the 10 realms books. Not sure if these are categorised as YA or as adult, considering the amount of violence but lack of sex.
I love how relatable Rugrat and Eric are. But then again I’m a big fan of fart humour. Lol.
I’m not going to spoil things all I can say is go get book 1 if you haven’t yet and start.

2nd time around and still as good!

This is now my second time that I’m “reading“ these books. What I didn’t notice the first try, but I did now is that the performance of this first book isn’t so great. It feels sluggish in the beginning and often it feels like the narrator stops only because he needs to turn the page, which gives a weird break mid sentence.
But that shouldn’t stop you from listening to this book or the rest of the series.
The fact that I’m doing a rerun is testament to how good the story truly is.
And now up to the second realm.

When I started watching the series every episode I ended up watching in several parts because the story was so strong it really got to me.
But this narrator doesn’t put much intonation into it. I didn’t get the same awesome feeling as when I was watching the show. Tbh. I’m a bit disappointed.
