Probably my favourite of Fitzgerald’s Great Brain books, this audio version is wonderfully read by Jason Culp, who catches all the flavour and nuance of the original text.

Historia
In the far reaches of Imperial space, a ferocious warp storm approaches an Administratum world, cutting off the entire planet from the rest of the Imperium. As their towering grey spires are punished by endless rain, countless administrators, tithe-masters, and book-keepers are forced to evacuate. Among them is Greta, a lowly data-drone with a terrible secret, wanted for questioning by the sadistic Imperial interrogator Stefan Crucius. As disaster strikes and the pair are left stranded in the depths of the drowning city, captor and captive must cooperate.

Terrifying Atmosphere and a Great Jumping-on Point
Revisado: 09-24-21
As a newcomer to the Warhammer universe, I wanted to find something accessible. Something that did not require an in-depth understanding of the universe. “The Watcher in the Rain” is perfect for this: although there is plenty here for a seasoned Warhammer fan to love, it is also a great jumping-on point for those new to this world.
Intensely atmospheric, dark and terrifying, “The Watcher in the Rain” is a story where nothing is as it seems. From its opening strains to its final, brutal twist, this audio drama gave me just enough information about the universe of the Imperium that my appetite was whetted for more Warhammer stories. Highly recommended.
