Historia
Sketch artist Tino Ciccotelli is passionately dedicated to helping victims of violent crime. For years he's translated their descriptions of attackers into "WANTED" posters. While listening to the victims' pain is emotionally draining, Tino accepts this as part of the job--until he discovers that he and his newest client have a personal connection. He is devastated to see Dorothy's injuries and determined to help the police catch her attacker, but he must also deal with the return of her niece, his first love who left him when their lives were just beginning.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 12-20-24
I nearly returned this book because of the narration. The narrator sounds like a drunk, chain-smoking, Thurston Howel the third from the old Giligan's Island TV show. I love the author and her books so I toughed it out.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Absolutely nothing

long drawn out story that I became quite bored with. I continued to read in hopes it would get better but was so happy when I got to the end I didn't care how it ended.

Historia
There is a serial killer on the loose preying on vulnerable women. The only identifiable mark the killer leaves are letters - sometimes one, sometimes two - all carved into the torsos of his victims. Together, they spell “Sydney”. When he grabs Daisy Dawson, he believes he has found his next victim. But despite her small stature, she fights back with an expertise that quickly frees her. Before fleeing the scene, Daisy also manages to grab what proves to be crucial evidence: a necklace from around the killer’s neck.

Narrator almost killed it for me but...
Revisado: 02-27-19
When I first stated the book, the narration sounded like it was being performed by an overdramatic Shakesperian actor. I bumped the speed on the player up a notch and it seemed more normal and not so distracting. Good story line done well in typical Karen Rose fashion. Can't wait for the next book!

Best book I've read in a long time!
Revisado: 12-27-17
Best book I've read in a long time. I read so much it is hard to find anything fresh. This book is written from a different perspective than usual. It has all the ingredients I want in a good book, a serial killer, a strong female character and a realistic plot. The narration was good, but not perfect. There were a few times my focus was turned to the narration and not the story, but for the most part well done.

if you like reading technical manuals...
Revisado: 02-27-17
This book had potential, but that's about it. I finished it in hopes it would get better, but it didn't. The performance was pretty monotone although the different voices and accents were good. My mind kept drifting off especially in trying to detail the technical aspects. I loved "The Martian" with all its details but this book was like reading a technical manual .

I liked everything about this book. Great story, great performance. I highly recommend it. I usually don't like flip-flopping the time line but it worked for this story. very engaging main character.
