Historia
For many, the past few years have been defined by climate disaster. Stories about once-in-a-lifetime hurricanes, floods, fires, droughts, and even snowstorms are now commonplace. But dramatic weather events are not new and Northeaster, Cathie Pelletier's breathtaking account of the 1952 snowstorm that blanketed New England, offers a valuable reminder about nature's capacity for destruction as well as insight into the human instinct for preservation.

As a geography, weather and radio buff, this book had it all. A truly gripping listen into the lives of several families touched by the 1954 northeaster. A big thank you the author for the meticulous effort to tell these stories.

Historia
As a young man, Richard Neer dreamed of landing a job at WNEW in New York - one of the revolutionary FM stations across the country that were changing the face of radio by rejecting strict formatting and letting disc jockeys play whatever they wanted. He felt that when he got there, he’d have made the big time. Little did he know he’d have shaped rock history as well. FM: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio chronicles the birth, growth, and death of free-form rock-and-roll radio through the stories of the movement’s flagship stations.

Revisado: 02-24-24
I am not particularly a rock music fan but love radio, and this book gave me so much insight to WNEW and what made radio so special in the 70s that I could not stop listening. Richard turned this into just a very compelling chronological story. Highly recommend!

I now know why this book is so revered in sports media circles. you truly feel like you were part of the Indiana team listening to this. Feinstein did a wonderful job fairly depicting Knight in all of his shades. even better job by Feinstein narrating! maybe all those CBS sports minutes paid off!

Historia
In 2016, writer and filmmaker Ben Howe found himself disillusioned with the religious movement he’d always called home. In the pursuit of electoral victory, many American evangelicals embraced moral relativism and toxic partisanship. Whatever happened to the Moral Majority, who headed to Washington in the ’80s to plant the flag of Christian values? Where were the Christian leaders that emerged from that movement and led the charge against Bill Clinton for his deception and unfaithfulness?

The summation of hypocrisy
Revisado: 09-02-19
Mr. Howe pulls no punches in describing how many ways the Christian right is contradicting itself in its unwavering support of Trump. The words mean more from Howe with his viewpoint as an evangelical. We all know someone who fits in the depictions described in this book and it made for a very entertaining listen.

Fantastic, enchanting listen
Revisado: 08-23-19
I have only recently begun listening to audiobooks and this is the first novel I have tried, uncovered by a WaPo recommendation. What a superb listen! I was totally gripped by the relatable storyline of Maddie Schwartz and the excellent background and details the book and narrator provided. I completely disagree with the reviews stating this was hard to follow - nothing could be farther from the truth! highly recommend and will be searching for other titles from the author.

People are now exposed to more information than ever before, provided both by technology and by increasing access to every level of education. These societal gains, however, have also helped fuel a surge in narcissistic and misguided intellectual egalitarianism that has crippled informed debates on any number of issues. Today, everyone knows everything and all voices demand to be taken with equal seriousness, and any claim to the contrary is dismissed as undemocratic elitism.
