Awful narrator, distracts from content.
Revisado: 03-10-24
The narrator reads as if reading for the first time and with an elementary cadence. I love J.V's books, but couldn't enjoy the story because of the narrator. She even chuckles at the story as she reads. Very distracting. Gonna listen again to get a better grip on the content. Big JV fan. Get the guy who did three of his others on here.

Historia
Of the many books on UFOs and aliens, this one may be unique. Richard Dolan, one of the world’s leading historians of the UFO subject, has analyzed the different alien types and agendas based on longstanding patterns observed by witnesses. This is both a careful review of the best evidence we have of human-alien interaction, as well as a bold speculation of just who the aliens are and what they want. Dolan’s analysis starts with our ancient prehistory and potential genetic modifications and monitoring by extraterrestrials.

Bad writing isn't the narrator's fault.
Revisado: 07-31-22
Dolan isn't a great writer, but that's not the narrator's fault. I've been into this material for some time now but never read or really followed Dolan's work. It seems to go in circles and not really take you anywhere.

More than half of American adults and more than 75 percent of young Americans believe in intelligent extraterrestrial life. This level of belief rivals that of belief in God. American Cosmic examines the mechanisms at work behind the thriving belief system in extraterrestrial life, a system that is changing and even supplanting traditional religions.

So very interesting
Revisado: 05-13-22
If you've been into the UFO stuff.. this is a welcomed relief. New food for thought. Accessible yet Academic, intriguing but familiar. If you think we're so different from our 17th century ancestors, this narrative will bring your ego down a notch and help you see a bigger picture. If you're looking for an analysis of UFOs-- not for you. If you're looking for interdisciplinary context about UFOs that you haven't thought about-- right up your alley. I'd read more of her books.... and more about levitating saints.

Historia
I'm a 64-year-old retired lawyer and former Assistant Attorney General with an unusual story to tell. Every word of it is true. It happened in a state park known as Devil's Den. For fear of losing my job and damaging my reputation in the legal community, I never spoke about the incident. If it hadn't happened to me, I'd be skeptical too. In 1977, I was an active duty NCO in the USAF. A friend and I planned a two-night camping trip to explore the wilderness. We drove deep into the forest until we came to a high plateau. There on the horizon sat a perfect triangle of three very bright stars....

Great story, Great organization, highly entertain
Revisado: 03-26-22
I've been into this stuff for 15 years and I'll say this is one of the best stories I've heard. I don't know why, but how the author unfolds his story lends to some kind of strange credibility. Entertaining and thought provoking. If you wear headphones then yeah-- you'll likely hear some saliva noises from the reader, a few mistakes here and there, but it's really no problem if you're interested in the story. Even if one iota of this man's story is true-- just one-- we're doomed, or really-- have already been whatever past tense of doomed is. If anything, the story just ended up pi$$ing me off if only because our human autonomy has been revoked--well, of course, eledgedly. fiction right? Two thumbs up.

Historia
Since its 2009 launch, the Kepler satellite has discovered more than 2,000 exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system. More exoplanets are being discovered all the time, remarkable in their variety. Astronomer Michael Summers and physicist James Trefil explore these remarkable recent discoveries: planets revolving around pulsars, planets made of diamond, planets that are mostly water, and numerous rogue planets wandering through the emptiness of space.

Revisado: 03-12-22
This is material that, if you're already into astronomy and cosmology, is new and interesting. It starts at level 5/10 as opposed to 1/10 --new and interesting food for though if you're already up to snuff on space shizzle.

Historia
In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

Not like the rest
Revisado: 12-27-21
good narrator, a little quiet. Very interesting working-through of an even more interesting theory. The cases examined are really quite unique & unusual, and Vallee walks you through the premises of his theory in a clear and methodical way. He has definitely given me more food for thought on the topic---a topic that most books make you feel like you're eating the same sandwich on different bread (although this was published quite awhile ago). Entertaining and Interesting.
