Historia
From his earliest memories of watching Rhoda with his parents in their tiny Hell’s Kitchen apartment, John knew that he wanted to be an actor. The strange, alternate world of television—where people always cracked the perfect joke, lived in glamorous Upper East Side buildings, and made up immediately after fighting—seemed far better than his own home life, with a mother and father on the brink of divorce and a neighborhood full of crumbling pre-war architecture and not-so-occasional muggings. And yet that other world also seems unattainable.

Humanizing the human
Revisado: 02-26-23
I honestly enjoyed the book. Why or how would a known hardline conservative buy a memoir of a known unabashed liberal? I guess I’m a lot like your dad in that their is always room to be wrong about people without admitting to it. The key is to listen to the life stories of others and not judge based on opinions.

Did you have to end it with a300 meter shot from a subsonic round? Flynn being the king of the obvious world have just shot out the tires on the nose gear.

Not what you would expect
Revisado: 11-03-22
A great book about the trouble of fame. Ever heard the saying, “be careful for what you wish for”? He had it all and almost blew it all, several times. I found I put a lot of phone calls off when I listened to this. Not to mention that this may help another addict or twenty. Great job reading it too. It is always better to hear the author read his own stuff.
Mathew, call me I will listen.

Listeners will find here not only the country’s leading conservative thinker offering a passionate defense of limited government, but also a highly independent mind whose views - on feminism, evolution and the death penalty, for example - defy ideological convention. Things That Matter also features several of Krauthammer’s major path-breaking essays - on bioethics, on Jewish destiny and on America’s role as the world’s superpower - that have profoundly influenced the nation’s thoughts and policies.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-26-19
I loved listening to Charles on the radio and on TV but in his book he uses to many $20 words. I realize he was an extremely educated man, however he is hard to follow especially with his voice that has zero fluctuations. Some might enjoy this but I didn’t.

Historia
12 Strong is the dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered 40 to one, they pursued the enemy army across the mountainous Afghanistan terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators as they rode into the city. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn.

Disappointed
Revisado: 05-06-18
It’s a good story but the narrator slows it down with his monotonous voice. They spend way to much time fluctuating between time lines.
