Disjointed
Revisado: 04-22-25
We really looked forward to this book...but were very disappointed. After struggling to listen to the first half - we gave up. It's nearly impossible to tell if story is about the lady who is the spy or her handler! It's, obviously, about both. Also, it's nearly impossible to tell if the story is happening in the here and now or if it is something that happened in the past - the story keeps jumping back and forth with no explanation or heads up. We are returning to book. We feel like we just got robbed of 4 hours of so of our lives...

Historia
Andrew Crain has it all: a brilliant scientist and astute businessman, his groundbreaking work with lithium has made him one of the world’s richest men. He is universally adored and admired; that is, until Crain’s beautiful wife, Laura, comes to Spenser hoping that he can find out what skeletons lurk in her husband’s closet. Though Crain is a generous philanthropist and loving family man, she is concerned—he has recently become secretive, bordering on paranoid, and prone to violent outbursts.

Boring
Revisado: 01-16-25
Two thirds of the book deals with Spenser eating (who cares), naming the countless streets in Boston, him boxing at the gym, and more needless crap to fill the pages and NONE of it adding to the story. The plot is mediocre. It was a real challenge to get to the end. I should have stopped listening after the first hour... Skip it.

Mr. Brown does not disappoint
Revisado: 07-08-24
We've read or listened to all of the Burke books though this one. We've loved every one of them, LOTS of action, a hero that we can identify with, good narration, and more... We can't wait until the next one comes out in Audio!

Fun, Fast moving, engaging Book
Revisado: 07-08-24
So far we've enjoyed all of the Case Lee books - and this one didn't let us down. We felt we were right there in the action. We liked it so much that we just bought the next two in the series! We like the way that it moves along without a lot of useless verbiage. Good reader.

Very Enjoyable Romp Through Switzerland
Revisado: 07-08-24
Very well done and fun to listen to. My wife and I zipped through this book and enjoyed all of it. Gotta love Mac Dekker - someone who wants to stay out of the limelight (and even out of sight), but all of that changes when he gets word that something happened to his son - and then it's no holds barred. The author must have spent time in Switzerland - as his descriptions could only have been written by someone who is/was very familiar with the surroundings. Good story, Good Narration, Good overall. I would recommend this to anyone who likes fast moving action stories. We especially liked that there was no gratuitous violence.

Historia
It’s early fall when a heatwave descends on Los Angeles. Private Detective Philip Marlowe is called to the Montgomery estate, an almost mythic place sitting high on top of Beverly Hills. Wealthy socialite Chrissie Montgomery is missing. Young, naïve, and set to inherit an enormous fortune, she’s a walking target, ripe for someone to get their claws into. Her dying father and his sultry bottle-blonde girlfriend want her found before that happens. To make sure, they’ve got Anne Riordan—now head of her own all-female detective agency—on the case, too.

Terrible Book - Made no sense at all
Revisado: 07-08-24
We really enjoyed this book - initially. After a couple of hours we started to wonder where it was going. It made no sense at all! And - the author kept taking us on tangents about Marlowe that were totally irrelevant to the story. It's been a long time since I've been this disappointed in a book. And, although we like Scott Brick - he tends to be OVERLY dramatic - and that gets a little old.

Harvath books have gone downhill
Revisado: 02-19-24
This disjointed book was a real disappointment. For years I read about Harvath and his exploits and was captivated - HOWEVER - the last few books have been a real struggle to get through - but yet, I kept purchasing them - hoping the storylines would be similar to the early books - but, alas, it wasn't to happen. The story line is convoluted, the connections between the characters is left to your imagination, and worst of all - a lot of time is spent on the disgusting sexual habits of one of the characters - something that I found totally unnecessary and totally useless - and gratuitous at best!
This is the last Harvath book that I will be purchasing. How sad that such a great series can turn into nothingness. I am so disappointed.

Historia
Writing in the tradition of Dennis Lehane and Greg Iles, Attica Locke, a powerful new voice in American fiction, delivers a brilliant debut thriller that readers will not soon forget. Jay Porter is hardly the lawyer he set out to be. His most promising client is a low-rent call girl and he runs his fledgling law practice out of a dingy strip mall. But he's long since made peace with not living the American Dream and carefully tucked away his darkest sins: the guns, the FBI file, the trial that nearly destroyed him.
