After 12 years of marriage and two kids, Merit has begun to feel like a stranger in her own life. She loves her husband and sons, but she desperately needs something more than sippy cups and monthly sex. What I’m always looking for but never find, in a story of attraction and love between two women
Revisado: 07-01-22
I am constantly looking for a contemporary love/attraction story between two women, mature, older, with complicated histories. Instead, most often I only find an abundance of young women’s stories, or lovely stories of young love, between teens or early adults. This was a rare gem, very well written, with an excellent reader. The children’s voices were a bit annoying, and the husband a dud, but the two women were very well acted and written. The ending was perfect. New ways of living, and loving. I listened three times, sad that once again, my search continues, and I’m doubtful I will find anything this good for a long time. I hope I am proven wrong!

Historia
A woman invites a famous artist to use her guesthouse in the remote coastal landscape where she lives with her family. Powerfully drawn to his paintings, she believes his vision might penetrate the mystery at the center of her life. But as a long, dry summer sets in, his provocative presence itself becomes an enigma - and disrupts the calm of her secluded household. Second Place, Rachel Cusk’s electrifying new novel, is a study of female fate and male privilege, the geometries of human relationships, and the moral questions that animate our lives.

Reader is a turn-off!
Revisado: 09-22-21
Unfortunately, the reader is a major turn-off. Harsh, curt way of speaking, off-putting. Re-record with a British voice please.
