Complex storytelling
Revisado: 12-30-24
Love this book! It ties up a lot of loose ends, and affords a closer look at the Mulder and Scully long term relationship. It makes that horrible television ending so much better and opens the door to more books (I hope.) This is the right author for these beloved characters.
I’m going to give nothing away- you’re just going to have to listen to this yourself.
The actor reading this needs to be on the list for an award. She’s clear and the voices were varied enough to make it easy to follow.

Historia
Keegan knows there’s something off about Happy Town. The isolated, high-tech company town is too perfect—with a dome keeping out bad weather and self-driving vehicles rumbling throughout the town delivering residents to work and school. Still, Keegan is excited to grow his art skills at Happy Town’s ultra-modern middle school, even if he has less time to see his mom and stepdad because of their new jobs.

This is my book of the year!
Revisado: 11-22-24
It seems like a standard YA book set in a company town- an amazing lesson in itself. Then it takes a wild turn and the adventure starts.
Every kid who has ever moved because their parent has a new job will relate to this book.
There are nuggets of wisdom and grace and hope, and reality checks throughout the story of three remarkable- yet average- middle grade kids.
I got a lot out of this book, so don’t confine this to YA. It’s worth the read for adults, too. Then it takes actor who read this is excellent, giving each character real definition.
Again, my book of the year. Thank you Greg Van Eekhout!

Historia
Defense lawyer Andy Carpenter is reluctant to take on more cases. He’d rather spend his time working for his dog rescue organization. However, when a truck carrying more than 70 dogs from the South to the Northeast turns up with a murdered driver, Andy can’t help but get involved. Andy is eager to help the dogs, but it’s the man accused of murder who he has a problem defending. The accused happens to be his wife Laurie’s ex-fiance. Even though he acknowledges having argued with the victim, he swears that he is not a killer, and Andy has to admit he believes he's telling the truth.

This is one of the best readers - he adds a lot to the story by his acting talent. The storylines are often similar for this author and yet this was particularly good with tying up a lot of characters and a satisfying ending.

Revisado: 03-12-23
I’ve listened to all the books in this series and have never been disappointed with either the book or the reader. The performance enhances the experience and makes Chet the Jet my favorite character. The hydrology in this book was also spot on, which made me doubly happy. Many thanks to Spencer Quinn for these great books!
