A delightful “North and South” fan fiction. Includes extended back stories for John and Margaret. And in their life as a married couple, a painfully honest depiction of the stress that a tragedy puts on a relationship. (But they do finally get their HEA). The backstories and “current” stories are interwoven to illustrate the “why” behind the characters’ current behavior. The narrator does a great job with distinctive voices for each character.

I couldn’t stop listening to this. I wanted to know whether my guesses were correct. And the narration was great—different accents made it clear which character was speaking.

Gripping story, interweaving past and present via contrasting narrators. Childhood bullying results in lifelong scars—for both the bully and the bullied. Gradual revelation of the truth—had me hooked!

Gabriel Byrne—a quintessential Irish storyteller. This memoir is specifically Irish, so authentically personal, yet so universal. And Byrne’s performance is compelling and entertaining.

Story told through two first- person narratives by characters that evoke empathy, this Compelling historical fiction draws frightening parallels to today’s rise of right wing extremism. The detailed descriptions of Venice are vivid. How the Nazi occupation of Venice affected ordinary people’s lives; war can turn ordinary people into monsters. And a surprise ending that I didn’t see coming. Brilliant story telling and Richard Armitage’s narration is riveting.

This is a brilliant variation on Pride and Prejudice set during the French Revolution. It’s both a romance and an espionage thriller. I kept listening to “just one more chapter” because the suspense was killing me.

A compelling mystery wrapped in the intriguing history and lore of Venice. The author paints vivid pictures of this most unusual city — makes me want to spend a month there, tracing the steps of Arnold and Lizzie, the protagonists. And Richard Armitage’s narration—perfection!

A great story—part recovery from tragedy, part humorous take on a spoiled privileged drama queen, part crime novel, and part romance. Lots of twists and turns. And the narrator is terrific, too.

The vivid descriptions of Venice in this story made me imagine the city in my mind’s eye. It made me want to visit there. The intriguing mystery within a mystery was great fun. And Richard Armitage’s narration is compelling—as usual.

I have attempted to read David Copperfield many times but couldn’t get through it. Listening to Richard Armitage’s portrayal of each character —with a unique voice for each one —brought the story to life for me. I was bereft when the book ended because I had grown to care for David, Agnes, and all of his faithful friends and loved ones. I confess that I had to take a break from some of the earlier chapters when David suffered abuse and neglect as a child. Armitage’s portrayal of the stepfather, in particular, was so chilling, I had knots in my stomach when listening to it.
