A bit too much war detail
Revisado: 10-15-18
I found the amount of fighting and war description kind of made the book drag on for me but the book is well-written for sure, so if you like that sort of thing, you may enjoy it. I much prefer Anthony Ryan's more adventurous writing and think I would have enjoyed the book more without so many battle scenes thrown in. The performance is great!

Not as good as Book 1
Revisado: 12-02-17
Didn't really like the change in narrators and found the story too full of detail that seemed drawn out more than necessary. Not sure if I'll read the 3rd Book as I found I was starting to get a bit bored in a lot of places after only halfway into the book.

Historia
Years have passed since the Vagrant journeyed to the Shining City, Vesper in arm and Gamma's sword in hand. Since then the world has changed. Vesper, following the footsteps of her father, journeyed to the breach and closed the tear between worlds, protecting the last of humanity but also trapping the infernal horde and all those that fell to its corruptions - willing or otherwise. In this new age, it is Vesper who leads the charge towards unity and peace, with seemingly nothing standing between the world and a bright new future.

Loved it!
Revisado: 07-22-17
A great continuation to the first book. I loved listening to both, finding the narration and storyline unique and entertaining. The books invoke a wide range of emotions, well portrayed through the variety of characters. The adventures are creative and the humour is refreshing!

Didn't like the dramatization that was done, it just didn't fit with my experience of how the stories are interpreted.

Far-fetched plot and annoying main character
Revisado: 03-18-16
The story line was too unbelievable and the main character was hypocritical and annoying so I couldn't get into the book. Was hoping for more based on the number of positive reviews.

Really dark, couldn't get past that
Revisado: 12-29-15
I confess I only made it to about 3.5 hours before calling it quits on this listen so my review is limited. Just wanted to warn that this is a really dark book starting out and so I found it hard to continue. There was very little action after 3.5 hours and no humour to alleviate the gloomy atmosphere of the story. The narrator is great, and I loved his voice so didn't want to stop listening but I just couldn't make myself continue, especially knowing I still had 23 more hours to go; it seemed like a depressing endeavor. This series had a lot of great reviews, I just couldn't get into it.

Wasn't what I expected, a bit disappointed.
Revisado: 12-18-15
I read the first book (The Finisher) and loved it; thought the story was great. It was adventurous and fun, and written well enough to enjoy, even as an adult. Then I listened to this second part (The Keeper) in audiobook format and didn't enjoy it as much. The narrator is excellent but I thought she made this book come across too much like a children's story. Perhaps that was the intention but I was expecting it to be aimed at a bit older audience, at least young adult level. I wonder if I had read this second book like I did the first, if I may have enjoyed it more, without the child-like narration?

A few exciting parts, but went on a bit
Revisado: 08-23-15
Don't usually write reviews but J.R. Ward is one of my favourite authors so I feel the need to justify only 3 stars. I found the book kind of went on a little too much about bourbon company history that didn't really seem necessary in the first book of the series. I also didn't really like any of the characters much, so kind of lost interest. To be fair, maybe this really just isn't my genre. The narrator was quite good for most of the characters and I liked his voice but don't think he did well on the female voices; they all just came across whiny and kind of annoying, not really sure if they were supposed to or not. I would try a second book just because I have loved so many other of Wards' books, but if it doesn't peak my interest a bit more, I wouldn't likely listen to any more in the series, unfortunately.
