Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Cringe worthy, constantly pushing the liberal agenda
Revisado: 05-24-23
I have listened to about 300 books on here. This one was one that I honestly was excited it was finally over. The author couldn’t help but push his own political beliefs into the book.

Great book, written by a real diver

I really enjoyed the book. I’m a public safety diver and appreciated the attention to detail of the gear and terms. My only complaint is I wish there was more of his work on audible.

Historia
The sinking of the submarine S-51 was one of the greatest tragedies in American naval history. Due to a miscommunication and subsequent collision between the sub and a passing steamship on a September night, the S-51, including 33 of its crew of 36, sank to the ocean depths. The tragedy of the S-51 captivated the nation, and was a fixture in the pages of American newspapers. The story took on a whole new dimension when the navy decided to take over the salvage of the 1,000-ton behemoth from a civilian company.

Great book

Amazing hidden gem of a book. I almost didn’t finish it though because the first 15 chapters the reader sounded like a game show host and it made it very hard to tell the tone and pace of the book. But then like a light switch he changed and sounded a lot better for the remainder of the book.

Historia
More people have died exploring underwater caves than climbing Mount Everest, and we know more about deep space than we do about the depths of our oceans. From one of the top cave divers working today - and one of the very few women in her field - Into the Planet blends science, adventure, and memoir to bring listeners face-to-face with the terror and beauty of Earth’s remaining unknowns and the extremes of human capability.

A little too “I’m a women so it was harder”
Revisado: 01-19-20
I have over a 100 books in my audible library and this is one of three I just couldn’t finish. Everything was “I was the first women to go here” or “it’s hard to be a teenager girl” and so on. We get it your a women and that different from the norm of cave divers can we please move on and get to the diving portion of the book? She also has a very condescending tone to her voice. Just a bummer, could of been a good book.
