Historia
This is a story of Jelena Dokic's survival. How she survived as a refugee twice. How she survived on the tennis court to become world number four. But, most importantly, how she survived her father, Damir Dokic, the tennis dad from hell. From war-torn Yugoslavia to Sydney to Wimbledon, she narrates her hellish ascent to becoming one of the best tennis players in the women’s game, the abuse she endured at the hands of her father and her heartbreaking fall from the top. Jelena never told anyone the full truth of what she went through until now, and her unbreakable spirit will inspire you.

Many critics believe Adam Gilchrist is the greatest wicketkeeper/batsman to have played the game, but Adam's huge popularity does not rest solely on his incredible track record. To his millions of fans around the world, it is the way he plays the game - rather than simply the sum of his achievements - that marks him out as one of the best-loved cricketers of his generation.

A walk down memory lane
Revisado: 01-13-15
I really enjoyed this book for two main reasons. Firstly is because it brought back many fond memories of Gilly at his most attacking best. I could not help but regularly go to you tube and watch highlights as i listened. The second reason would have to be finding many behind the scene stories of events that took place but i never fully understood at the time. This was very enjoyable to be able to get a closer look at many of the cricketers that i had watched so much over the years. Gilly wasn't just a crowd favorite for his dare devil explosive batting but also for his humble warm hearted character that he is. You can enjoy both of these aspects listening to this book.
Oh and a really great job done by narrator although he did at times sound a little like Nic Schultz from blue healers
A really good book for cricket lovers of all countries, but not sure if it could hold interest to anyone who doesn't know of the iconic Aussie sports star

The Narrator gets 10 stars
Revisado: 12-17-14
This is not the greatest book or story etc but i think it is the best performance from a narrator. This guy is amazing with all of his different accents. At times the story is a little slow moving and can get a little lost but most of the time its very enjoyable. I found myself feeling like i was in the slums of india.
Have you ever heard he term " he could read a phone book and id listen?" I think Humphrey Bower must have played with one as a kid.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

4 or 5 I cant decide
Revisado: 12-17-14
Ohh come on Audible le us choose half a star for ratings. This is a better than 4 stars but not quite 5. Or maybe it is i cant decide. I really loved it though. Just wish it was longer. made me laugh many times. I started out not really liking the Ove very much and enjoyed him being antagonised a little for being such an anal grump but i softened to him as the story went on. I guess i'm only a little disappointed that it ended.
Oh OK ill give it 5 but only because he checks his neighbours rubbish bins to inspect correct recycling procedures.

Historia
On October 14, 1943, 600 Jews imprisoned in Sobibor, a secret Nazi death camp in eastern Poland, revolted. They killed a dozen SS officers and guards, trampled the barbed wire fences, and raced across an open field filled with anti-tank mines. Against all odds, more than three hundred made it safely into the woods. Fifty of those men and women managed to survive the rest of the war. In this edition of Escape from Sobibor, fully updated in 2012, Richard Rashke tells their stories

They Fought Back and Won. Incredible Courage
Revisado: 12-17-14
I watched the movie many years ago and naively thought " OK cool they have escaped now they are free" Wrong. The escape from the camp was just the start of the ordeal for the many who would break free. THis book has done an amazing job at showing how truly great the ordeal of the the holocaust survivors was. There was no run of to the forest and live happily ever after. Those that broke free and made it to the woods would still have to endure a constant fight for their lives for many many months. This book does a brilliant job at describing the many different stories of some of its survivors. I now have a much deeper appreciation for the range of difficulties faced by condemned people fleeing the notorious death camps for all of Europe was one very large prison. If the movie needed a sequel then this book is its equivalent.
I titled this review as they fought back and one with reluctance. I didnt want to sound gimmicky on such a subject but the fact is that facing certain death, those that fought back and still lost their lives would still take a small victory with them. Incredible courage.

Historia
In 1941, newlyweds William and Rosalie Schiff are forcibly separated and sent on their individual odysseys through a surreal maze of hate. Terror in the Krakow ghetto, sadistic SS death games, cruel human medical experiments, eyewitness accounts of brutal murders of men, women, children, and even infants, and the menace of rape in occupied Poland make William & Rosalie an unusually explicit view of the chaos that World War II unleashed on the Jewish people.

Speachless, I wont forget this book
Revisado: 12-17-14
I cant use the words that i enjoyed this book, surely no one could. But i can say it just left me so captivated. I have been to Krakow in Poland and walked the very streets described in this book. This just made hearing the stories of life in the ghetto so much more haunting. I honestly dont know how to reccomend this book other than to say an absolute must. If they can endure such an ordeal then we can endure the difficulties of hearing their story. Be warned it can be heart breaking but also spiritually lifting. I am so grateful Their story has been shared in such an honest and revealing manner.
The narrator did such a great job with the right amount of sensitivity that i completely forgot there was a narrator. It felt like i was listening to the author.

Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Wow This Girl Can Write
Revisado: 12-17-14
Before i finished this book i was on Audible.com searching for other books written by Sue Monk Kidd. I found "The Secret life of bees" and bought it straight away. What has that got to do with this book? Ooooh this girl can write. I wont write a full analogy of this book, many other reviewers have written better reviews than me. Im just going to say get this book and listen, you wont want to put it down cause this girl can write.
Oh and narrators! you were both awesome, well done to you both. I notice you both had at times to do the voice of the other character being read mostly by the narrator. That could have made it confusing but it worked so well. Great job.

Easy to enjoy on a long afternoon
Revisado: 12-17-14
I enjoyed this little book, I had only one small disappointment with it. It felt like it jumped through time a little bit to fast. I know i would have enjoyed it more if the everyday life and stories were more abundant. The fault is perhaps more mine as i found myself comparing to "The Help" and "To Kill A Mockingbird" Never the less it is still a nice little book which i did enjoy very much. Easy to finish in full day as it does keep you entertained.
The narrator probably deserves 4 and a half stars. I like to save the 5 stars for the absolute best

As North Korea's State Poet Laureate, Jang Jin-sung led a charmed life. But this privileged existence was about to be shattered. When a strictly forbidden magazine he lent to a friend goes missing, Jang Jin-sung must flee for his life.

Left me wanting to know much more
Revisado: 12-17-14
This book is a fascinating account of escape but also of how terrible circumstances are in North Korea. While the book covers a certain amount of info on conditions of the prison state, its main focus is on the escape of two individuals. The book doesn't really go wrong anywhere but at the end i wasnt unhappy that it finished as i found my interests grew much more in the subject of the bigger picture of North Korea. This book tries to mix both individual story and the bigger picture quite well. My desire to find out more about the later will have to come from another source. The Narrator was very good but i wonder if all the characters in the book are of Korean and Chinese accents, then maybe it could have been more ideal to choose a narrator from this region. I certainly have no problems with the narrators accenting but think it an odd choice. Still a very good read was performed.
I do recommend this book to anyone, but be prepared to want to know more about the subjects touched on. Oh well here goes another credit and some research time as i really want to find out so much more.
