Quite a twisting mystery

Loved this closer look at what being a female cast in a lower caste would have been like and her discovering at a very young age that you needed to be always on guard of others intentions and difference to you even when appearing to be genuine.

That first close encounter was at once terrifying and exhilarating for May, and in that moment, she discovered that everything she needed to know about life and family was right before her eyes, in the secret world of bees.

Historia
Khorramshahr, Iran, May 1982 - It was the bloodiest battle of one of the most brutal wars of the twentieth century, and Najah, a 29-year-old wounded Iraqi conscript, was face to face with a 13-year-old Iranian child soldier who was ordered to kill him. Instead, the boy committed an astonishing act of mercy. It was an act that decades later would save his own life.

Inspiring
Revisado: 01-19-21
I believe this an excellently told story from two points of view from opposite sides of a border and war. It shows that no matter what your differences or beliefs may be we are all still humans and love and live life to the best of our abilities. That we are really all the same at the core, no matter our religion, our country, or our political point of view. Something all of us need to remember now and forever!

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

Riveting
Revisado: 05-07-20
It just goes to show our Justice system is only as good as the people that run it. Without accountability and reforms for true rehabilitation, people will continue to be found guilty or coerced into pleading guilty. The penal system is even more dysfunctional and corrupt since they have privatized. It will need more cases like this and other issues to come to light before a positive change will occur.
I loved Ray's telling of his injustices. I could picture the myself there with him, but I'll never know or truly feel everything he went through. He is more forgiving then I could ever be.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Awakening Memorues
Revisado: 02-04-20
This book awakened many memories of my childhood and opened a window I thought I had closed forever, but has shown it has always been with me with every decision I've made.
I love it gave me a different political prospective. I grew up poor and always wondered why my family went from staunch democrats to republican. This book gave me the clarity and am more tolerate of their opinions.
