Historia
Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humorless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

All Hail Sophy!

Love Heyer's leading ladies. They are so full of spirit and not damsals in distress. Sophy is was such an enjoyable character. Just wish the book didn't end at the engagement.

Historia
In the medieval kingdom of Goredd, women are expected to be ladies, men are their protectors, and dragons can be whomever they choose. Tess is none of these things. Tess is...different. She speaks out of turn, has wild ideas, and can't seem to keep out of trouble. Then Tess goes too far. Tess's family decide the only path for her is a nunnery. But on the day she is to join the nuns, Tess chooses a different path for herself. She cuts her hair, pulls on her boots, and sets out on a journey. She's not running away, she's running towards something.

This story had alot to offer
Revisado: 10-22-18
I over all enjoyed the story. I did have a hard time at the beginning with all of Tess' self loathing and viewing herself as a victim. I had a hard time with that not because it was in the book but that the book dwelled on it for so long. The book is very long but having finished it I enjoy the emotional and mental growth Tess went through and the author's ability to describe it. This book was not only an amazing adventure with Tess struggling against the world but also a struggle of Tess with herself. Normally books choose one or the other, but I appreciate the combination of it in a book.
