Historia
To trace the history of the twenty-first century so far is to trace a history of unaffordability and shortage. After years of refusing to build sufficient housing, America has a national housing crisis. After years of limiting immigration, we don’t have enough workers. Despite decades of being warned about the consequences of climate change, we haven’t built anything close to the clean-energy infrastructure we need. Ambitious public projects are finished late and over budget—if they are ever finished at all.

Amazing

Should be required reading for any liberal voter or politician. We need more deep thought in what government should be doing and what is blocking progress.

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

This was an amazing book for how cities have been planned in the US and how a bunch of it has been wrong. We need to go back to how we used to plan cities. Great read.

Historia
It’s no secret that hundreds of companies have been slashing pensions and health coverage earned by millions of retirees. Employers blame an aging workforce, stock market losses, and spiraling costs - a perfect storm of external forces that has forced them to take drastic measures. But this so-called retirement crisis is no accident. Award-winning investigative reporter Ellen E. Schultz reveals how large companies and the retirement industry - benefits consultants, insurance companies, and banks - have all played a huge, hidden role in the death spiral of American pensions and benefits.

Everyone should read this
Revisado: 03-15-21
This book destroyed a major misconception I had that pensions didn’t work because too conservative investment choices. But it was actually because companies looted the promised money and left their former employees without the promised pensions. The people making these decisions are the monsters of our society. They deserve to be in prison but that won’t ever happen. I couldn’t finish the book because it was so infuriating. I got about 75% thru it.

Random thoughts
Revisado: 04-26-15
This book was a lot of random thoughts by Poehler. Some funny, some interesting, some boring. This isn't really all laugh out loud funny but it was funny for some chapters. The worst two chapters were probably the last two. I listened to the whole book in a couple days and couldn't put it down.
