I don’t know. If you spent much much time with this period of history and read all the accounts, especially those that are against Angleton, I don’t think this gives you any more doubts. Did we do better after we got rid of him? Was he the problem? This individual was a person of his orbit, and so does that suspicion linger? I don’t know. I think it confuses the picture even more. Is that what it’s meant to do? Seem too much like a personal vendetta as opposed to solid research and well written analysis as I’ve seen other accounts. Is that what they want? it’s spies with a penchant for duplicity. Not great overall.

You can’t find a better space opera/hard science fiction. Expansive stages, deep characters and brilliant political intrigue. I wish I could find more like it, nothing quite has this unique blend. Savor your first read through of these books! I’m on my 5th or 6th replay of these and it’s still just an incredible experience.

Fantastic Exploration

A fantastic exploration of past, current and future DOD programs and research. So much of the Internet and many underlying technologies of the modern day have come out of ARPA. I can’t wait to see what comes out of the next 20 to 30 year’s. I wonder what positive impacts will manifest from tech that’s been I. The shadows for the past 10 years. This also doesn’t shy away from the negatives, and some of the terrible things that have been done in the name of the United States.

Unexpectedly Funny

She tackles serious subjects with thoroughly researched material and personal interviews, all while depositing poo references and dad jokes. This is an example of science communication that is splashed full of fun! Also, very insightful on many of the less glamorous and often humiliating aspects of space flight.

Incredible Journalism

Annie paints a picture of a dystopian future driven by DNA, future crime prediction, and the reduction of a human to a digital, probabilistic value. Incredible research and storytelling has this prescient book sitting extraordinarily well in the spirit of the age.

Staff the State Department!

Sharply written and inspiring, this is a tale of highs, lows and triumphs in statecraft. The foreign service and diplomats are, unfortunately, not frequent headliners in the crisis obsessed media. Their contributions to averting crisis the world over have shone a bright light into some of civilizations darkest moments. Burns personal story is an inspiring and thoughtful journey around the world.
