Historia
One minute, down-and-out actor Lorenzo Smythe is, as usual, in a bar, drinking away his troubles while watching his career circle the drain. Then a space pilot buys him a drink, and the next thing Smythe knows, he’s shanghaied to Mars. Smythe suddenly finds himself agreeing to the most difficult role of his career: impersonating an important politician who has been kidnapped. Peace with the Martians is at stake, and failure to pull off the act could result in interplanetary war.

Surprisingly fantastic
Revisado: 11-11-22
Had no great expectations going in, but I enjoyed this book more than most. The story itself is fun but the portrayal by Pinchot was especially good.

Loved it
Revisado: 04-13-21
The people interviewed and quality of the story telling is simply fantastic. I finished this book all too quickly as I was drawn into the wild do-or-die escapades of the early SpaceX years.

Historia
When itinerant cave diver James Tighe receives an invitation to billionaire Nathan Joyce's private island, he thinks it must be a mistake. But Tighe's unique skill set makes him a prime candidate for Joyce's high-risk venture to mine a near-Earth asteroid - with the goal of kick-starting an entire off-world economy. The potential rewards and personal risks are staggering, but the competition is fierce, and the stakes couldn't be higher. Isolated and pushed beyond their breaking points, Tighe and his fellow 21st-century adventurers must rely on each other to survive....

Good story with caveats
Revisado: 05-07-19
Truly a great idea, and hilarious comparisons to some real world people, companies, and situations. All in all I recommend the book.
The end, really a decision made about how the story would proceed much earlier in the book ultimately leads to a disappointing ending. Too many loose ends untied, questions like “why didn’t they just do this”, and in general a feeling like the last 1/4 of the book was rushing to finish rather than fill in more depth.
Also, the story builds on some characters which suddenly the book just drops from the narrative until the very end or not at all... with no explanation about what was going on with them, though theoretically critical to the story.
Still, I give it 4/5 stars and enjoyed it despite some issues.

A couple with potential

A couple with potential
Revisado: 11-19-15
Great authors, throw away stories. A couple are decent, but most either tease you with a cool idea but fail on execution, or are just outright uninteresting or too awkward.
