Historia
Jane McKeene was born two days before the dead began to walk the battlefields of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - derailing the War Between the States and changing the nation forever. In this new America, safety for all depends on the work of a few, and laws like the Native and Negro Education Act require certain children attend combat schools to learn to put down the dead.

Great story and girl power
Revisado: 04-08-25
It’s a fast read, but well written. I definitely enjoyed the audiobook. The author did a great job with details about the characters and following them and watching them grow through the book. It had a little bit of the walking dead in it. I enjoyed the main character and her two close friends. Glad that it had a somewhat happy ending. Would love to see what happened to the main three in another novel.

Enjoy it from start to finish
Revisado: 02-11-25
I enjoyed this one more than I did the first one . It was more fast paced and had more action. I enjoyed the story and continuing to learn the thoughts and emotions of the returning characters. Also getting to meet new characters including the Queen. The ending was a great cliffhanger and can’t wait to start the next one.

Historia
Operated by the same family for more than a century, Midnight Blues may be fun for the locals and the tourists, but as of late, the club hasn’t been fun for its owner, Big Shirley Duncan, or her son Tyrese, descendants of the original proprietors. The pair finds themselves in the middle of a turf war between local politicians, developers, and a ruthless underworld boss, Jean LeBlanc, who is looking to make a name for himself. Afraid for the first time in her life that her family may lose control of The Blues, Big Shirley sends Tyrese to New York to see her brother-in-law, LC Duncan.

It left too many loopholes
Revisado: 12-01-24
This book was all over the place. I’m gonna assume that Marie was the killer but they never explained wtf was going on. It left too many loopholes and didn’t continue the story from the last 3 books. Big Shirley is one of the dumbest characters in the series.

Historia
Love & Whiskey is the true story of Jack Daniel, Nearest Green, the man, and Uncle Nearest, the whiskey company Fawn Weaver founded to honor and amplify Green's legacy. But it’s not the whole story. A bonus chapter in the audiobook edition centers on Weaver's commitment to right the wrongs of history by cementing one man’s legacy for generations to come. It represents a living promise to give a family back the dream that was denied them in a place and time where dreams were not permitted for all.

Historia
They were best friends. They were collaborators, literary gadflies, and champions of the common people. They were the leading lights of the Harlem Renaissance. Zora Neale Hurston, the author of Their Eyes Were Watching God, and Langston Hughes, the author of "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" and "Let America Be America Again", first met in 1925, at a great gathering of black and white literati, and they fascinated each other.

Historia
It’s 1957, and after leaving the only home she has ever known, Alice Young steps off the bus into the all-Black town of New Jessup, Alabama, where residents have largely rejected integration as the means for Black social advancement. Instead, they seek to maintain, and fortify, the community they cherish on their “side of the woods.” In this place, Alice falls in love with Raymond Campbell, whose clandestine organizing activities challenge New Jessup’s longstanding status quo and could lead to the young couple’s expulsion—or worse—from the home they both hold dear.
