Historia
Hugh d'Ambray, Preceptor of the Iron Dogs, Warlord of the Builder of Towers, served only one man. Now his immortal, nearly omnipotent master has cast him aside. Hugh is a shadow of the warrior he was, but when he learns that the Iron Dogs, soldiers who would follow him anywhere, are being hunted down and murdered, he must make a choice: to fade away or to be the leader he was born to be. Hugh knows he must carve a new place for himself and his people, but they have no money, no shelter, and no food, and the necromancers are coming. Fast.

I’m glad I got it, but
Revisado: 08-16-23
Having read all the Kate D. series, I’m a little spoiled. I loved the narrator’s voice, I just didn’t enjoy all of the narration. The voices blurred and the integration of previous characters were too far away from what I’m used to. It became so distracting I couldn’t get into the story. It didn’t align as seamlessly as I would have like and the plot was a bit off. I doubt I will continue this spin-off, but I’m always down for Kate!

Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. And when coyote shapeshifter Mercy and her Alpha werewolf mate, Adam, are called upon to stop a rampaging troll, they find themselves with something that could be used to make the fae back down and forestall out-and-out war: a human child stolen long ago by the fae.

Love this series except…
Revisado: 04-12-23
I hate that they keep reiterating that ALL vampires are evil, BUT I’m friends with a couple. I think it’s pot calling the kettle. Like why can’t they except that there are exceptions, especially with what they do or are. It is short sighted & ignorant and I’d like to think the protagonists are better than still making those sweeping statements throughout the series after a couple vampires have proven otherwise.

There’s only one rule in the world I come from. Keep our existence a secret. Period. The day my sister broke that rule one too many times, I knew there would be consequences. I expected us to be sent to one of those schools for “troubled” kids - and maybe Daizlei Academy was, in a way. But really, it was far more complicated than that. You see, I thought that world had forgotten me. Forgotten us. For years we were left alone, and one day...we weren’t. It was only when I got there that I remembered the second rule: Trust no one.

1/2 way thru review
Revisado: 02-14-23
I like the storyline but the FMC has so much internal dialogue and it becomes so repetitive that it takes away from my enjoyment or the actual story. I’m hoping it gets less repetitive. Because repeating the same stuff over and over just becomes boring. It is also repetitive and after a while whatever you are says doesn’t have the same affect. SWIDT?

Historia
I hunt demons. I don’t work for them. And I promised my mom one thing before she was murdered: Under no circumstances, would I ever go near the high demons. But I’ll break that promise over and over again if it helps me avenge her death. When my only lead turns to ash in the middle of demon territory, I’m suddenly a dead witch walking. Violence in Samael’s club is an automatic death sentence… unless he can use you.

It did not let me down! The narrator was excellent. The voices different enough to be able to tell apart. The acting and emotions were on point

I’m soooo torn
Revisado: 01-09-23
Part of me wants to stop listening but I, also, feel invested. Her one moment cockiness when confronting enemies and knowing they can’t win and then right after her insecurities is giving me whiplash. She is a study in contradictions and not in a good way. How she made it this far doesn’t make sense. She was always late and never trained except like once or twice and yet intuitively she does everything and why is all the focus on her they are TWINS. That’s what’s supposed to be special about the birth and yet her brother who trained every moment can’t hold a candle? Uh huh.

I like the storyline, but….
Revisado: 01-07-23
It’s not often that a narrator affects my review with so much over dramatization, but this one did. The FMC comes off whiny and on the edge of hysterics. It’s always I’m the reason I’m at fault or stomps foot (several times) in a fit of anger or pique. Or let me be jealous with two guys, but only profess undying love with one. Or I deserve this and I need to be coddled or I think no one likes me. Also, the way the narrator does it, if said in another tone wouldn’t be soo over the top. However she plays into the words in a way that pushes it to irritating. Side note, the dialogue and editing could be better. I will try the third book to see if it’s better.

Historia
They came after the Diseray. Some were terrors ripped from our collective imaginations, remnants of every mythology across the world. And some were like nothing anyone had ever dreamed up, even in their worst nightmares. Now, the luckiest Cits live in enclosed communities, behind walls that keep them safe from the hideous monsters fighting to break through.

Redo needed with a new narrator
Revisado: 11-14-22
This is much like Hunger Games, which isn't bad. However, I wish that the narrator gave more or rather ANY personality to the characters and storyline.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Great story and audiobook
Revisado: 11-13-22
Loved this one more than the comeback. Especially the realistic parts and the slowly getting to know the characters and the behind into The Who they really are and why they act a certain way. Some parts you could see were about to happen and some things were a bit anticlimactic, but that added to the realism. I could totally see myself doing it this way or that and I loved it.

Downloaded this because it was free with my subscription and loved it so much I downloaded her other book. The narrator was awesome with plenty of feeling in the story to bring you along on the emotional moments. This isn’t my normal type of book to read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the realism of emotions even with the fantasy of the situation.

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Powered through and ended up enjoying
Revisado: 10-09-22
The narrator was initially kind of grating. I don’t know if I got used to it or she found her flow with the characters. MFC is kinda not the smartest at times and doesn’t seem to draw logical lines, but still a good storyline and worth the price of free. I’m going to try the second book and should know more.
