I'm honestly surprised by all the glowing reviews and number of listens this title received. I listened to this as my book club's pick for January and we were looking forward to it due to all the hype and recommendations. Several social media influencers raved about it too. However, even my book club of diverse readers were totally unimpressed. We found much of the story to be unbelievable and predictable. There were so many "yeah right," "I'm sooo sure...," and "of course" moments. After 11 hours of listening, the first 8 or so being build-up, you realize the plot was pretty simple and the last few hours were just boring. I realize the athor was trying to teach a lesson, but she missed and opportunity for some thrills, twists, and turns. I was hoping the protagonist would at least meet some resistance she would have to overcome, but no. Except for a few bad moments, she had an easy job carrying this basic plot. This book is definitely not sticking with any of us or getting passed down, as one review suggested.

I was concerned about purchasing a how-to book in audio format, but I loved it! Actually, an audio edition lends to the whole notion of needing speed cleaning: you probably don't have time to see and READ a book on it, either. The author's use of repetition (sharing the same ideas in multiple chapters) also made it easier to internalize and remember without print in front of me. Truth be told, I even found it to be pretty relaxing to listen to! I plan to play Simply Clean over and over.
