Fantastic characters
Revisado: 10-17-24
Some of the secondary character voices were hard to listen to, but I loved the story so much it was worth it. Great plot, and the cast of characters is delightful and complex and wonderfully queer.

Historia
The 1960 baseball season is shaping up to be the worst year of Eddie O’Leary’s life. He can’t manage to hit the ball, his new teammates hate him, he’s living out of a suitcase, and he’s homesick. When the team’s owner orders him to give a bunch of interviews to some snobby reporter, he’s ready to call it quits. He can barely manage to behave himself for the length of a game, let alone an entire season. But he’s already on thin ice, so he has no choice but to agree.

I loved every second of this, and honestly would listen to a hundred more hours of Eddie and Mark’s life together.

Fantastic performance
Revisado: 07-26-18
I read this book a few weeks ago and loved it, so was thrilled to see an audiobook version as that is my favorite way to re-read books. I had such a specific voice for Abbie in my head, though, I was a little worried about how the narrator would match up. Cassandra was PERFECTION. She caught all the little nuances of tone that made the book so funny, and so sweet, and the character voices were different enough they were recognizable, without distracting with vocal gymnastics some books have. This definitely goes onto my list of comfort audiobooks.
