Thorfinn's family was cursed by a witch down three generations. Two generations have succumbed to the curse before Thorfinn's story began. A young boy of 10 Thorfinn must overcome people plotting to unalive him. His own clansman fear him and he is now an enemy. He must also accept his new fate of being a boy by day and ghost by night. This was a fascinating book. I enjoy history but have never really gotten into Norse culture aside from the Hollywood version. I'm sure the author did a lot of research to describe things so wonderfully. It was like a movie playing in my head as I was able to visualize everything. I can't wait to see what the next adventure holds in this series.

Good listen

I first read this book about 2 years ago. I enjoyed reading the story at the time and have enjoyed listening to it this time around. The narrator did a good job and I enjoyed the voice she brought to Eve Sawyer. Since it had been a while, listening to the story was like discovering it all over again. I highly recommend the series as a whole.

Nash is finally back from doing his duties as a Marine. He did not, however, come back the same man. Some of his scars are visible but there are many that are not. Betsy Bobbins, the local librarian, was afraid of him and his eyepatch at first but once she got to know him that quickly changed. Her sister has returned and along with her came some trouble she was having a hard time shaking. The only one Betsy could think to call for help was Nash. The narration was alright but I felt the added accent for the character was a bit much. It did make it a little harder for me to concentrate on the story itself. Overall I did enjoy the characters and the storyline.

I don't know how a lot of people like to start their day, but I decided that the start of my 8 hour shift at 6am was a good time to start this book. As I was standing at my cart getting medicine ready for a resident I thought that this book would get off to a bit of a slow start, but NO! It started out with something that I never expected. I had to stop what I was doing and just listen to the first few paragraphs thinking oh my gosh, she really did that? It was a good listen and I will most likely actually read the book at some point. I know all of us mothers out there would do anything to protect our children and the main character in this story was no exception. I highly recommend you read the book or at the very least give it a listen.

Great fantasy book

Sweet Second Chance Romance

Katie and Chase were high school sweethearts and seemed destined to be together forever. However, after graduating high school they ended up splitting up, and Katie went to the big city to follow her dreams. Chase did eventually leave himself, but went back to be closer to his brother. When his brother and sister-in-law tragically perished in an accident he became the guardian of his nephew. Now a decade has passed by and Chase's cousin is getting married. He and Katie are about to be thrown together by his match making cousin and the results could either be disaterous, or turn into a reconciliation. The lead characters in this book were very likeable, and the narrators did an amazing job bringing them to life. I do wish the story had been a bit longer, but I was very happy with how everything turned out for Chase and Katie. This was definitely worth the listen.

Gabriela Martinez is a well known author that is about to put her book up for auction. People are willing to do anything to get their hand on her book. At least one person is willing to take her life. There are plenty of twists to keep you listening, or turning the pages if you are reading the book. A few times I felt like I was getting lost when things from the previous book were referenced, but I was able to piece things together without any issues. This was the first book I have ever picked up by this author. I will be going to read book one and I will definitely be checking out her other works.

Not what I was expecting

This book was great from start to finish. An age gap, teacher student romance that will keep you entertained. The story flows flawlessly and the voices of the narrators fit very well with the dialogue. I have never seen any kind of performances like the ones described here, but it makes me want to go and watch the live action. Chandler has been a master aerialist mastering his craft over the year in his family's business. Cassandra saw his perform once and got his autograph after a show which made her want to become an aerialist and to study under him was her dream. He has been waiting for a protege of her magnitude for a long time and now that she has arrived, she has not only captivated the audiences with her performances but his heart as well. Both are keeping secrets from one another which adds to the mystery of the book and keeps you trying to figure out what is happening. If you have children, I will definitely say don't listen to this in their presence. The steamy scenes are a bit too steamy for little ears. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book of the series.

This was a good book and the narration was good. Harper got custody of her brother while in college due to her parents unexpectedly passing. Jeremy is a teen that has the mental capacity from an accident. He's got a fascination with cars. Not just cars, but fast cars. Harper has been in a few relationships that were semi-serious or at least headed that direction until she discovered the guys were only after her brothers trust fund. When Jeremy writes a letter to billionaire Will Franconi inquiring about seeing his car collection Harper never thought he would reply with an acceptance. Upon their meeting there is an instant attraction but Harper finds it hard to let herself fall into her feelings. Will has some skeletons on his closet that he'd rather not have see the light of day again. This blossoming relationship has the green light from Jeremy, but is Harper willing to give it a true shot? Is Will ready to be a one woman man?

I really enjoyed listening to this story. Beulah has moved to a small town in Texas after her grandmother passed away. She buys a merchantile store with the money she inherited and it is her new beginning. She moved from New York as she felt unwanted there not only by the people she thought were her friends, but her own parents. Poor Beulah grew up thinking and feeling like she was ugly due to a scar on her face received during an accident. This especially seems true to her after a broekn engagement to a man that didn't want her just the fortune she would eventually end up with. The only person that ever showed her unconditional love and support was her grandmother. Lucian ended up in the small Texas town two years prior to Beulah. Although they didn't know each other their families were in the same social circle. They both have a lot in common as they will soon come to find out. As their attraction grows both parties start to open up and reveal their pasts but are both afraid of getting hurt. Soon enough the people they were trying to get away from come barging back into their lives unexpectedly. Will they be able to keep budding romance alive or will their pasts be too much to overcome?
