Historia
In spring 1945, as the Russians moved on Berlin and it became clear the Nazi cause was lost, Adolf Hitler assured his most trusted henchmen that even if he were to die, "the seed of National Socialism will grow again one day [in]…a radiant rebirth." Several times after the war, the distinguished author Peter Wyden, himself a victim of the Nazis, returned to Germany to discover, to his dismay, that Hitler's prediction was all too true. In this unsettling audiobook, Wyden documents the reality that the "Hitler virus" is still very much alive.

With the listen

I thought the book was interesting. It was a different perspective from what I usually read. The narrator was at times very robotic, but if you could get past that sometimes he actually put some emotion into his reading. Overall I would recommend it.

Historia
This riveting debut set in 1534 England secured C. J. Sansom’s place “among the most distinguished of modern historical novelists” (P. D. James). When Henry VIII’s emissary is beheaded at an English monastery, hunchbacked lawyer Matthew Shardlake is dispatched to solve the crime. But as he uncovers a cesspool of sin, three more murders occur - and Matthew may be the next target.

This was, a fantastic book. Really. Usually, I don't like the books that are too long, but this one - I wish it went on longer. The performance was spot on, the story was so interesting - historical without feeling like you were sitting in a history class, and I liked that it was a different point of view. The only thing that I didn't like, was the last too word - the end. I will be looking into other books by this author, and I hope the same person narrates it.

With renewed interest in Alexander Key's extraordinary 1968 novel, fans can dive into Escape to Witch Mountain as it was meant to be listened to. The powerful, thrilling story of Tony and Tia - twins joined by their paranormal gifts, on the run from evil forces that seek to suppress their forgotten pasts - is more gripping and relevant than ever.

Better than Disney
Revisado: 12-27-13
I grew up watching Disney movies, so I was familiar with this story, but the book is, as is often the case, so much better. The story is similar, but much more believable, and although I knew the ending, I couldn't stop listening! I enjoyed the narrator - I thought the voices he did were good, I loved the different accents that were done. The book showed the prejudices of the time / era, and I liked that - Disney took all of that away. I recommend this book.

Historia
In his 1961 inaugural speech, John F. Kennedy spoke of the challenges posed by the nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union and urged "both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors". This speech also contains JFK's most famous utterance: "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country".

I was expecting something different
Revisado: 10-02-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I wanted to hear the entire speech. What I got was snippets of the speech. Not being there when the speech was delivered, this is disappointing for me because I want to know what was left out. When people edit books or speeches, you receive their point of view. I wanted the whole speech so I could make up my mind about the speech. But - I didn't pay anything for it, so I can't complain that much.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
What was interesting was the history and the mood of the speeches. Very interesting
What three words best describe the narrator’s performance?
Well - the narrator was JFK - so it was good!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It was interesting for what I heard, but again - I would have preferred the entire speech.

A wonderful quick story for adults and children
Revisado: 09-24-12
Would you listen to The Ring of the King again? Why?
I would and have listened to the recording. It is very enjoyable and a quick diversion during a hectic day.
What other book might you compare The Ring of the King to and why?
I could compare it to any folktale type of book.
Which character – as performed by Alan Rickman – was your favorite?
I am a HUGE fan of Alan Rickman, and I love the way that he narrates books. This story is read well, the different characters have different voices, but they don't sound silly, and I think it's the story itself that really appeals to me, although I have to admit, I bought it first because Mr. Rickman was narrating it.
Any additional comments?
Well worth the buy.
