great
Revisado: 04-15-25
I personally loved the book. This was old school dnd meets LITRPG/portal fantasy from the grandfather of DND. The MC created a fantasy series then sold it to a heartless cooperation that corrupted the world. He gets pulled into the real fantasy world an has to try to save it. Not having any real training and not having the middle name of Mary Sue, it does not go well.

Wow, I enjoyed all 62 hours of it!
Revisado: 03-01-25
I read/listen to a lot of litrpg. There are some really good stories. More stories are a chore to complete and some I stop before I can finish them because they are not worth finishing for whatever reason.
Limitless lands kept me interested in the story for a series that lasted 62 hours. No small feat. There was a good mixture of game mechanics and humanity. It's take on Litrpg is different enough from the other series to stand out. Rather then playing some hero class, or maybe the leader of a settlement in a 4x version of a game, the MC grows from being the leader of a small squad of generic NPC's to a much much larger army. The former soldier in me grimaces when an army of over a 1,0000 soldiers is run by one officer and a handful of NCO's, but to keep the listeners focus on a small handful of characters, I understand why that was so. I am glad I read it. I don't think I will read, or rather listen to it again, but that is true of most books. I will seek out this authors other works.

Historia
The usual result of a human taking a runaway semitruck head-on is a very sudden, very fast track to the pearly gates. But for one newly noncorporeal man, there's another option: become a dungeon. Feeling sorry for the desperate angel assigned to him, the man relents. Heck, if it doesn't work out, he can always chat with Saint Peter about it later. Next thing you know, he's a dungeon. Admittedly, a small run-down, somewhat unimpressive dungeon (more of a house, actually), but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Interesting story. Too many references to our world as jokes that no one gets, yet he keeps doing them. I am looking forward to book 2.

great series, stupid MC
Revisado: 11-03-24
I hate stupid MC's and when characters from a modern world keep using modern slang in a fantasy world. This series has this constantly. After the first time or two, it's stops being funny and is more irritating. That being said, I still love this series. I am currently on book 4 and just downloaded the series through book 12 on my phone.

entertaining
Revisado: 10-15-24
entertaining. At times the MC makes very stupid mistakes, other times instantly knows what to do in complex situations. I was not tempted to stop reading the book before the end, though At times I am considering stopping the 2nd book. Too many times when the MC does stuff stuff, that he even is told is stupid, and it feels like too much sex rather then good story.

not for me
Revisado: 05-07-24
I love this style military science fiction. Humanity struggling to defeat massive evil alien empires. designing and fighting war ships and tactical infantry battles. The people are fleshed out and their is good action. What makes it a struggle to finish is the people make stupid mistakes many times, lots of people die, and then they develop a little common sense. First contact with a race that enslaved humans and act threatening surprisingly goes bad, the aliens slice and dice with their claws and kill and kidnap people. I can believe that once, but it repeats several more times. Lock aliens up in rooms with less precautions then a hospital psych ward, and surprise, lots of people die and they get out. We have too few warships to protect the newly conquered system we have, let's build 148 new scout vessels that we say cannot survive in battle. We send them into battle, loose some and wow, let's make better ones. Then the warship with 27 meter thick armour.

It's great if you love erotica
Revisado: 04-20-24
This is a male MC, heterosexual fantasy harem erotica with a heavy dose of taboo.
This is not for people who will be offended by taboo relationships.
I loved the book. The story kept me listening whenever I had a chance. The biggest issue is the computer generated voice, which frequently mispronounce words and a mild fear that my blue tooth headphones would disconnect and it would play aloud around others.

Historia
In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless. Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Now, he faces the delightful task of convincing his wife and mother of the devastation hurtling towards them.

The most 'Mary Sue' book ever
Revisado: 04-18-24
I am more then halfway through the book, and feel nothing for any of the characters and the setting except mild dislike.
My threshold of disbelief for Litrpg is very low. Litrpg is escapism and wish fulfilment, which is why I love the genre.
Spoilers ahead.
The MC is a rural farmer, who apparently only raises 12 chickens. Nothing else. He manages to live a middle class lifestyle with him and his wife and had enough available credit to go on what I estimate as a $100,000 spending spree at the drop of a hat. There is no attempt to make this plausible. The the MC draws the attention of the primordial God of death for the entire universe for no apparent reason, and when he manages to cast a spell he wasn"t taught or given, she decides to make him her only champion, a position she hasnt filled in 10,000's of thousands of years, with all the overpowered class abilities and gear you can imagine. Even so I was going to finish the book, but I believe real life religion is subject that is off limits in main stream literature, just like abortion and similar subjects.

Historia
Terrence Mack was born poor, grew up tough, and died hard. Waking up in a sea cave with nothing but the clothes on his back and a new bullet scar was enough to convince him that wherever his death had brought him, it wasn't paradise. His new world quickly proves to be a place of danger, magic, monsters, and - for Terry at least - women. Known on Celestine as a template, Terry's genes are key to the survival of the eldritch races. But the fiercely competitive eldritch don't typically leave their lovers alive long, and aren't accustomed to taking 'no' for an answer.

a new favorite
Revisado: 06-17-23
A portal fantasy series, with the protagonist waking up in a fantasy world. With most of the fantasy I listen to, it is a love-hate relationship. I generally love the premises of the story, but the execution leaves me with frustration, annoyance, and struggling to finish the book just because I spent so much time on it already. The protagonist has his weaknesses and faults. He isn't made to be a genius one moment and a idiot the next. The supporting characters actually have some character to them. I will certainly reread, well, re-listen to this series in the future when I need a fun escape from the real world.

entertaining but very stupid MC
Revisado: 03-09-23
I managed to get through the first 2 books and even enjoyed them more then not. But more and more of the story is either the badger or demon making fun of all the MC's earth based assumptions when the world he is in is a very poorly constructed and overly artifical system, or the MC constantly making some stupid assumption based on earth, and someone other then his 2 familiars correcting him. Maybe once in a while he makes an intelligent choice , but much more often he is being beyond stupid. I finally gave up and quit. Maybe in a few months I can finish it, but listening to litepg version of forest gump is driving away any enjoyment. 2 books of stupid mc is enough.
