Historia
On November 13, 2022, four students from the University of Idaho are brutally stabbed to death in an off-campus house. After a lengthy investigation and cross-country manhunt, a Ph.D. student from a neighboring university is charged with the crimes. As it turns out, the 28-year-old was majoring in criminology, studying the behavior of killers like the ones he would later be accused of becoming. Did he use his skills to become a real-life Dexter? Were the Idaho victims his first, or was a serial killer hiding in the midst? The producers of The Piketon Massacre explore all sides of the shocking ...

Great informative content
Revisado: 08-31-24
Growing up in 80s and nineties I have a bias against "valley" style accents. Where the speaker's words are stretched out in order to raise their tone and finish their sentence at a higher tone. I have always seen these fluctuations as a customer science decision of the speaker, insincere, and very "surface" especially when these fluctuations happen sentence after sentence for extended periods of time. I recognize my bias, so despite several speaker's (in the most recent recordings) doing this I get over it and listen to the content. If you are like me and struggle with those fluctuations in speech, please be aware and really listen for the content. It is good.

Couldn't get past poor narration.
Revisado: 06-30-17
Unfortunately I couldn't get into the book. It was difficult as the narrator read with the same tone and inflections and poorly attempted different accents or voices. I turned it off when his attempt at an accent of a Jamaican office assistant came off as someone of Asian decent with broken English. Really disappointing. I am sure the story is good, I just couldn't get into it audibly. I may have to buy and read it myself.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: When it comes to author/narrator pairings, nobody tops James Lee Burke and Will Patton in the Robicheaux thrillers. Beloved Burke hero Detective Dave Robicheaux here returns to New Iberia to solve a series of grisly murders. Seven young women in neighboring Jefferson Davis Parish have been brutally murdered. While the crimes have all the telltale signs of a serial killer, the death of Bernadette Latiolais, a high-school honor student, doesn’t fit.

Great story and even better story teller.
Revisado: 01-13-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Glass Rainbow to be better than the print version?
Having not read the print version I am unable to say which is better. However I can say that I am not sure I would have brought the characters to life the same way that Will Patton has in this audio version.
What did you like best about this story?
James Lee Burke really captures the scenery and environment that each character exists within, in a way I have not heard by a Mystery/Thriller author in some time. He truly brings you into the picture and you find yourself truly invested.
What about Will Patton’s performance did you like?
Will Patton nails the essence of the main characters to a tee. From the accents he emphasizes and relaxes depending on the character, to the tone and emphasis he puts on specific words spoken in different situations. His performance of Clete Purcel, has got to be SPOT ON with what James Lee Burke had in mind. After listening to this I couldnt imagine Clete sounding any other way.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The opening of the book when James Lee Burke describes the rental room Dave Robicheaux had taken in Natchez, before going to visit a prisoner. That opening paragraph really told me that this author is not going to miss a detail, and I wasn't going to stop listening.
