Very good

This was a very nice start to a series. I really enjoyed the characters and while there isn't a ton of action, the situations were intense and enjoyable.

Historia
Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize. But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters.

Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Historia
When the Imperial prison barge Purge—temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’s most ruthless killers, Rebels, scoundrels, and thieves—breaks down in a distant part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting and seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back—bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within hours, nearly all aboard the Purge die in ways too hideous to imagine.

Pretty good
Revisado: 10-24-23
It was good. The story is well written and does a good job at creating tension. The horror atmosphere is excellent. Narration is also great with the exception of a well known character who shows us. Didn't really like his version of that characters voice. The biggest drawback for me were the sound effects. The added music was fine and in some instances were good but the monster sounds were goofy and broke all tension. If you can look past the cringe audio fx it's a good story.

Revisado: 10-15-23
This was a very fun book. Adnis and Kaius were fun characters and I found this to be an interesting take on the classic save the princess story. The magic system was really cool and action was engaging.

Good Scifi
Revisado: 03-01-22
Definitely a slow burn scifi for sure. The world is very intriguing, and the characters are all well fleshed out with deep backstories and their own motivations. The only drawback for me was that 90% of the time the narrator is about as engaging as a white noise machine paired with a Benadryl and a full glass of wine.

Still Just as Fun!
Revisado: 11-26-20
Oh man the story was just as fun this time around as the first time I read it. The adventures are exciting and thrilling, characters are fun to follow and learn about, and the world is the right sort of informative that I wasn't bore not bogged down by the info. Some of the characters can sound pretty similar to each other, but they are far away from each other per chapter that it wasn't really a bother. I totally recommend at least giving this book a try at least once, it's just a really fun adventure.

Historia
Tobias Kaya doesn't care about The Savior. He doesn't care that She's the ruler of the realm or that She purified the land, and he certainly doesn't care that She's of age to be married. But when competing for Her hand proves to be his last chance to save his family, he's forced to make The Savior his priority. Now Tobias is thrown into the Sovereign's Tournament with nineteen other men, and each of them is fighting - and killing - for the chance to rule at The Savior's side.

Very Well Narrated and a Thrilling Romance
Revisado: 04-05-20
The narrator did a wonderful job telling the story of Tobias forcing himself to enter The Sovereign's Tournament, not to win the heart of his country's queen the Savior, but to help get his family, his mother and twin sister Naomi, out of poverty, at least while he is able to survive the challenges of the tournament first. The narrator was good at giving me a variety of voices, but eventually they do blend together towards the end there as the characters are taken out one by one, but that's to be expected as a voice actor can only do so much with their voice. Now, although this is a dark fantasy/romance story, I don't know if it was because I was listening instead of reading it myself this time around, but some scenes/moments in the book, got pretty cringey, mainly what the main character was thinking about when it came to looking at either his love interests body or the Savior, but only some as the narrator was wonderful when it came to the romance scenes, however, I think I loved the more emotional scenes more when Tobias was angry, upset, frustrated, and/or sad, BUT I think the narrator needs to work on his panic/frantic scenes. When the main character was ever scared or terrified, the narrator just sounded monotoned instead throughout some scenes in the book, which caused me to falter my attention for a bit. Although just a few issues here and there, if you enjoy a dark fantasy story that is heavy on the romance, a HEALTHY romance, then I would recommend you give this story a try before the companion novel, The Savior's Sisters, comes out either later this year or next.
