Skip this book... It hurts me to say

I have loved all the previous books in this series but this book was very difficult ixult to get through. I had to force myself to listen. The story dragged on and the characters didnt really progress with a few exceptions. SPOILER... the whole book can really be skipped if you just jump to the last chapter or two. This was a huge disappointment to me and i am really hoping that this book was just a rrset to allow competition again. Overall i also didnt enjoy the handling of "Death and Taxes". It hurts me to say this. But you are better off just skippig the book and waiting for the introduction to the next to catch you up.

Really good and compelling

I rwally struggled with some of the books before this one. This book was a nice returns to a fun story. The author still has massive holes in the magic system, etc. But if you can overlook that then this was a good book.

So much potential but overly dramatic

I really like the concept and most of the characters. But I agree with another reviewer that this is way too dramatic and no sense of pacing. Everthing is always tense. This book was best in the beginning. I give the beginning four stars but it goes bad quickly after that. The plot is dragging out now. And I find I don't care. Just let the bad God win and be done with it.

Not a great sequal

I was really looking forward to this book but the story disappointed. I think some of the core elements of the story were good but the author made every fight 'life and death /full climax' and that just doesn't work. The author over plays the the risk factor. Nearly every fight follows the same pattern.. "on no we are going to die", "all the cool skills Gryph had are not working" and "need a desperate plan". Even random fights in the woods are this way. He forgot all of the cool elements where the player learns the world.

The first book had a good start, if a little rough. I bought the whole series and I really hopes that the author doesn't make every second a battle that lasts for hours or the whole "look how screwed we are".

The narration performance was top notch and very well done.
