first.... and good story is only as good as the author. however, when you then take the story and turn it into an audio book, it is now very important that the reader is also competent.
in this case, we have 5 stars on both counts. this is one of those rare cases when I will look for other books this reader has done so I can hear her read more.
well done.
also....
I can now see there are two more books from this story line... I hope to see more.

oops
Revisado: 10-21-23
first off.... these stories are brilliant and the teller is a female version of Jim Dale...
the overall rating was because of how confusing it was when I got to chapter 17 and realized I had heard that part before...
chapter 17 was included in the recording twice...
so, when you get to chapter 16 you will notice that it is about an hour long because it includes chapter 17. Then, it starts 17 again where it's supposed to be.
so listen to the longer chapter 16 and then skip the next chapter 17 and go right to 18.
well call it "the mystery of the stuttering chapter"

Hard to listen to, and yet...
Revisado: 07-23-22
it's a book about death... for me at least, it was difficult at times to hear. And yet, it was very insightful and helpt me deal with that part of me that makes it hard to hear.
the older I get, the more I dwell on the death that is coming, rather than the life I'm living. Watching my father pass was not only hard, but the first time I'd ever seen a person die. It tore a hole in me not only because he was gone, but because the process was difficult.
but I found this book easing my fears a bit, and helping me to better understand the importance of living my best life every day, regardless of the age.
thanks to you sir for this journey through your soul and mine.

Historia
The Coalition is reeling. New Vega and its other worlds have fallen beneath the boot of the newly allied Savage marines, and the death count continues to rise at a staggering rate. One thing is clear: The war to come will be a fight for the very survival of the species. For both sides in this conflict, now is the time to become what fate, and victory, demand. The Savages - post-human monsters who believe themselves to be gods - are intent on remaking civilization in their own violent and pathological image. Yet their alliance is tenuous.

keeps me surprised each time
Revisado: 09-25-20
There is no question that I have fallen in love with the story line that these authors and put together. There is always a twist and a surprise and it is amazingly connected, original, exciting while still paying homage to other science fiction genre's. And I can honestly say after book 2 that the reader I believe has finally come to his own. I wasn't to sure after the 1st book but after the 2nd I am anxious to hear him do more.

ok... but...
Revisado: 09-03-20
OK 1st of all I really love These stories.
I also enjoy enjoyed the person who read this story.
However if you are going to have more than one person reading the same basic collection of stories, those who read stories that come after need to reference how things were pronounced by other readers that came befor you.
So many words and character names were, in my humble opinion mis-pronounced in this story because other readers pronounced them differently first. Keep in mind that I am not dissing the person who read. He did a fine job. But whoever was the director should have done his homework and said "no no... this is how you say it not that way".
