Historia
On Halloween, it is always wise to expect the unexpected, but no amount of planning could have prepared Eve for that particular night. Fleeing an unpleasant orphanage, she’s saved by someone who she never believed was real…the fabled Pumpkin King himself. Throwing caution aside, Eve accepts the offer to become his daughter and is whisked away to the misty Hallowell Valley—home to witches and vampires, ghosts and goblins, and all that go bump in the night. But just when she believes she’s found her place among the undead, a sinister scheme unearths itself.

Disney Channel Orginal Movie Vibes
Revisado: 09-10-24
I LOVED that it was like a mash up of Nightmare Before Christmas and DCOM Halloweentown. The seasonal vibes were well needed and appreciated. Also set up perfectly to add in a second book if there ever will be one. Narrator did a great job by giving each and every character their own unique voice. Narrator’s performance deserves credit where credit is due. Only cons I have could be completely fixed with a second book. 1. Give more information on the world building (scary areas that were not talked about enough). 2. Tie up the loose ends with characters that were missing at the end of the book. 3. Give more olden day stories of Pumpkin Kings origins. 4. Expand on Eve’s new “situation” at the end of the book. Overall, I absolutely loved it and HOPE that there is a second one in the works. The story, the characters, and the world design is already there, I already have ideas on how to expand to a second book so I hope the author does too.

Historia
The architect of The Wizard of Oz delves into the mythological beginnings of the jolly old elf himself. Baum created a mythological world in which the magical forest of Burzee, created at the beginning of time, is the main source of all otherworldly magical power. Ak, the Master Woodsman, ruled the forests; Kern, the Master Husbandman of the World, ruled the food crops; Bo, the Master Mariner of the World, ruled the seas. All other immortals are subject to these three. Baum also created Ryls as guardians of the flowers and Knooks as guardians of the animals of the world.

Interesting

I’ve read almost all the OZ books, this has a very similar writing style. I also love how they tied the universes together In specific ways that I won’t say so I don’t give anything away. I enjoyed it. A different twist on a familiar story. The performance was fine too, nothing wrong with it but then again nothing too great either.

Historia
Carolyn's not so different from the other human beings around her. After all, she was a normal American herself once. That was a long time ago, of course - before the time she calls "adoption day", when she and a dozen other children found themselves being raised by a man they learned to call Father.

Read til the end, worth it!
Revisado: 09-23-20
Narration: B rating, above average but not the best. Nothing against her, she was enjoyable but I’ve heard better.
Story: A rating, it was fictional yet intelligent at the same time. They were able to make the fun of a fantasy be a real danger in the real world.
Characters: A rating, there was many characters in this book and they each had their own physical details and define personalities.
Writing: I was originally going to give it a B rating but the way they manipulate my mind into making me think I knew exactly what was going on but yet at the end I find out it was so much deeper than that, I have to give it a A.
The first half of this book was so bizarre and random and confusing that I actually did not care for it. So much so that I almost gave up on it. I pushed through it though and the 3rd quartet made some sense of what what going on so from there on I was interested. The last quarter of the book tied everything together so well that it made me really like the book from beginning to end now. It is definitely worth the read, just make sure you read it to the end. This book is definitely a Mind-Screw book. I would recommend This to anyone willing to go on a journey that will leave you sitting puzzle and amazed at the end of a book. And also who is old enough since this is definitely an adult book.
