Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

I'm now a fan! Can't wait to see what's next.
Revisado: 01-20-19
I had this in my library for awhile, I got it free when it came out but quickly forgot about it until I listened to the Audible Original About August. once I heard that I remembered I had this in my library and i devoured it just as fast. Considering the subject matter I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I love his investigative style and his knack for looking at things from all angles and with an open mind. Jon Ronson narrates it himself and I enjoy listening to him speak. lol I will be looking out for more titles from him. and I can't wait to see what's next.

Historia
The people of Earth are preparing for war - a war that could potentially destroy the planet. Explorers are sent to Mars to find a new place for humans to colonize. Bradbury's Mars is a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor, where a fine dust settles on the great empty cities of a silently destroyed civilization. It is here the invaders have come to despoil and commercialize, to grow and to learn - first a trickle, then a torrent, rushing from a world with no future toward a promise of tomorrow. The Earthman conquers Mars... and then is conquered by it.

Audio Drama at it's best! classically done!
Revisado: 01-19-19
Great job, the Colonial Radio Theatre did an excellent job bringing this classic sci fi story to life in a new(ish) yet classical way. Audio Dramas (done right) transport me to another time and place and ultimately consume mind. This was a very entertaining listen. It kept me captivated. If you enjoy old time radio dramas I recommend you give this a try. I'm now going to read the source material to compare.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Bittersweet, brought me to tears a few times
Revisado: 12-09-18
What a beautiful and bittersweet story. During the brutality of WW1 to hear them singing to each other brought tears to my eyes. My faith in humanity has been restored. The production was excellent. I personally love the audio drama/ theatre for your mind format. I get drawn in to the story. I wish it was longer but it's a great listen to gain perspective and for hope. Merry Christmas!

Historia
On Christmas Eve, 1818, in a small Austrian village, a local Catholic priest and a church organist composed a Christmas carol that changed the course of holiday music forever. Exactly two hundred years later, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve heard “Silent Night” in the car, at the store and on TV – all in the same day.
In Jingle Bell Pop, John Seabrook, acclaimed author of The Song Machine, takes us deep inside the holiday music business. We go behind the scenes to meet some of the producers, songwriters and recording artists responsible for the timeless tunes we hear on repeat between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

The Narrator was SUPERB one of the best.
Revisado: 12-29-17
I hope to listen to more Audio books with this narrator. She was excellent! she portrayed the many different characters flawlessly. I had no trouble knowing who was speaking. I enjoyed the story as well. Being a mom who would like a vacation away from everyone myself sometimes lol I was able to through MB LoL.. I enjoyed following her along on her path to re discovering herself and the people she met a long the way. I recommend this story to women especially mothers who feel they are about to have a nervous breakdown. it has a good message of communication and the damage assumptions can do. I enjoyed this audiobook and think had I read it I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. The narration pulled me in. and immersed me in her plight like reading wouldn't have.

Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Audible does it again! What a great production!
Revisado: 09-24-17
I was thoroughly engrossed while listening to this. I learned some things I didn't know and some I already did. I read/listen to alot of historical fiction from the ww2 era and a lot of what happened on the Home Front I was oblivious to. I highly recommend this listen to all Americans. I have always had the utmost respect for The Greatest Generation. If you know or meet a vet or woman who stood home and worked in the war factories thank them for their service to this country. YOU truly were THE Greatest Generation!
