Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Good story, unlikable protagonist
Revisado: 09-20-22
The story itself was good; maybe an eight or nine out of ten. But I could not get past the main protagonist. I almost stopped after the first chapter because her personality annoyed me so much.
Every time I started to get into the book she would have some cringy internal monologue or make some stupid choice that would have me reconsidering finishing the story. I found her to be small-minded, stupid, and selfish.
I never found myself wanting her to succeed, and I eventually started skipping past her nonsense.

Conversations 101.. Nothing new
Revisado: 09-13-21
Overly basic information, platitudes, and a lot of filler. This is the type of personal growth book that gives personal growth books bad names.

too much fluff
Revisado: 08-09-21
There isn't a lot in this book. It's a few simple concepts and a lot of repetition and stories. There wasn't anything particularly new or groundbreaking.

Included with Keller's poignant autobiography are her letters, spanning 15 years, which reveal her remarkable intellectual growth and empathic soul. somewhat interesting at times
Revisado: 08-05-21
It was less interesting than I had hoped. I ended up skipping large sections of Keller's letters and the Frost King section near the end. Anne Sullivan's letters/notes were the most interesting part.

Interesting
Revisado: 07-14-21
I found this book quite interesting. Many of the author's descriptions and examples matched up with myself and people I know. It has led me to mull over my upbriging with new understanding and how aspects of it has affected me in adulthood in ways I haven't before considered.
The editing of the narration had issues though. Several dozens of times the narrator stopped mid-sentence and repeated something he just said. Sometimes this was due to him saying the wrong word but most of the time it seems to be just a stutter in his speech. It's not horrible but it was frequent, slightly distracting and could have been easily edited out.

Meh
Revisado: 04-24-21
All of the Magic in the book was inconsequential to the story. Magic could have been removed without altering much of the story at all. It's a bait-and-switch, to keep us looking forward to the promised significance of that magic. With it removed what remains is a long rambling story about a family. I can't even tell you how it ended because by the end my mind had glazed over like a corpse. Kill by in the endless cycle of non sequiturs and grandiose pontificating on nothing.
That being said it was often entertaining in the middle.
