Although this book features Mr. Nancy from American Gods it’s not a direct sequel of that book. American Gods was about the ancient, mostly forgotten gods of several cultures versus the new gods. Anansi Boys is about what it’s like to be a demigod navigating the modern world. It’s smaller in scope than American Gods but I prefer it. It’s engaging, funny, has a satisfying ending, and Mr. Henry performs it beautifully. The range of voices he creates is amazing, especially the ones for the women.

This is a good book and after having listened to the audio book I can understand why people rave about it. Bit it is a bit overwrought, in my opinion.

I'd heard so many good things about this book and I'm glad to say it merits all the praise it's gotten. For myself, I love a good tragedy, where things are not wrapped up in a neat bow at the end. The narration was fantastic.

This was the first book by Lisa Jewell that I've ever read and it was just lovely. I was looking for something different from my usual sci-fi and fantasy fare and decided to try this. The summary sounded good but I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. Would it be chick lit, which I abhor? But no, it was a delightful, character-driven story, which I love. It was filled with layered characters who often make the wrong decisions and I wanted to shake them, but it all turns out all right in the end and not in a fairy tale way, thank goodness. I will definitely be buying more books by this author.

Having heard so much about Carrie Fisher's remarkable wittiness I was expecting to be enchanted with this book. The passages from her diaries were intriguing but the overall tone of the book was a disappointment.

I'd heard a lot of praise for this book before finally buying it and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Brutal, beautiful and heartbreaking. Ms. Adeyemi's prose is fantastic and Ms. Turpin's narration was faultless. Like all the best narrators she served the writing so that the listener can get caught up in the story and not the performance.

I'd never heard of this author before but now I might try more of their stories based on this collection.

The acting was good all around. The sound effects added to the ambience and mood of each tale. They built atmosphere and tension without distracting from the narrative.

These types of stories are very much what I like. The author ratchets up the psychological terror and suspense but leaves out the gore and violence.

Wonderful story and interesting characters. This story is told from the POV of several main characters, which works really well for this book. Initially the story switches between the POVs of two young women, Miryem, a money lender's daughter, and Wanda, a poor girl from the village who becomees Miryem's servant. More POVs are added as the story moves along. The narrator, Lisa Flanagan, does a great job overall and with the voice of the demon in particular. However, the distinction between the voices is very subtle and there's nothing to indicate that we've switched from one POV to another. I often didn't realize there'd been a change and then had to backtrack 10-20 seconds. But this is a minor quibble and didn't distract from my enjoyment of the story in the least. Highly recommended.

Though well-paced and entertaining, as are all of Wodehouse's books, this one lacked a certain spark. Perhaps it's the absence of Bertie Wooster and his man Jeeves. Several characters from previous Jeeves & Wooster stories are featured here, with Lord Twistleton standing in for Jeeves in the form of a merry prankster. All the hallmarks of a classic Wodehouse farce are there but overall it lacks a certain dash and the laugh-out-loud quality of his best stories.

Jonathan Cecil, however, is predictably stellar in his voice characterizations and narration.

I was very much looking forward to this book because I'm subscribed to several of these authors' channels. It was great to hear them explain exactly what makes us Ice and Fire Nerds, to use Chris's phrase, so obsessive about the show and books. If your friends and family just don't get it, lend them this book.

The writers each read their own piece and they're very good. As YouTubers they've somewhat mastered the art of speaking at the perfect rate. This is the first audio book in a long time that I haven't had to kick up to 2X speed. Gil Kidron from GOT Academy especially stands out. He read with wonderful energy and verve. The only letdown was the reader for chapter 6 (sorry, I don't know his name), who sounded as though he was automated; no inflection or emotion whatsoever.
