Historia
The CIA's deepest secrets are being given away for a larger agenda that will undermine the entire Western intelligence community. Director of National Intelligence Mary Pat Foley wants it stopped but doesn't know who, how, or why. Jack Ryan, Jr., is dispatched to Poland on a different mission. The clues are thin, and the sketchy trail dead ends in a harrowing fight from which he barely escapes with his life. If that's not bad enough, Jack gets more tragic news. An old friend, who's dying from cancer, has one final request for Jack.

hate-filled drivel
Revisado: 02-25-25
Hateful stereotypes , name-calling, and violence against everyone who has any different perspective on the world occupy most of the part of the book I could get through

Historia
When Russian President Valeri Volodin's ambitions are foiled in Dagestan, he faces a difficult choice. The oligarchs who support him expect a constant flow of graft, but with energy prices cratering, the Russian economy sputters to a virtual halt. Unable to grow the Russian market at home, his hold on power relies on expansion abroad—a plan that has been thwarted by the United States in the past. But this time Volodin has determined that an indirect approach is the best.

at least most of the racism was gone in this one

probably too long and predictable, but it moves at a decent pace and the overlapping stories are easy enough to keep straight

there's plenty of interest in here(even if you know exactly how it'll end), but the racism and repeated jabs at government are distracting

Nothing happens, nobody is interesting
Revisado: 12-18-23
There are novels that explore people, places, whatever. There are novels that move along with things happening that are interesting. This has none of that. I swear this was just an experiment by Mr Grisham (or his agent) to see what ChatGPT would come up with as a sequel to the Firm. There's just nothing new or interesting about this book.

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Revisado: 05-29-22
senator Klobuchar presents a compelling point of view, with a strong historical record and real issues we face today, plus concrete changes the country should move towards today. I learned things, and I'm moved to change how I vote by her presentation.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.
