Historia
In six lectures, Dr. Shumway and Dr. Wendler will help you understand the nature of neurodiversity, a growing school of thought that seeks to embrace the range of differences in individual brain function and behaviors rather than “correct” them, with a focus on empathy, acceptance, and accommodation.

Cursory introduction to Neurodivergence
Revisado: 01-19-25
A very brief and concise introduction to thinking from the philosophical basis of Neurodivergence as human biological fact. Presented as a lecture series. The stories, metaphors, and explanations are illustrative and easy to understand. A good primer to get you started on wrestling with this idea.

Historia
An aspiring writer moves into a new apartment and discovers that her landlady has murdered her husband. Elsewhere, an accomplished surgeon is approached by a cabaret singer, whose beautiful appearance belies the grotesque condition of her heart. And while the surgeon's jealous lover vows to kill him, a violent envy also stirs in the soul of a lonely craftsman. Desire meets with impulse and erupts, attracting the attention of the surgeon's neighbor - who is drawn to a decaying residence that is now home to instruments of human torture.

Interwoven Suspense and Mystery
Revisado: 08-10-24
A collection of short stories interwoven in peculiar and interesting means approximating an experience of sonder. a little dark, a little sad, a little mad, but enthralling. i enjoyed the switch between male and female narration but it does take a little getting used to.

inventive and snarkily imaginative
Revisado: 04-26-24
Firrstly, Stephen Fry's performance is fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect.
For its time, this story is incredibly imaginative and inventive, with lots of nonsense that you'd think would be permeating the universe, life, and everything.
I do feel like it became a little bit dull in the middle, but I think that adds rhythm to the 42.

Historia
The science of emotion is in the midst of a revolution on par with the discovery of relativity in physics and natural selection in biology. Leading the charge is psychologist and neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett, whose research overturns the long-standing belief that emotions are automatic, universal, and hardwired in different brain regions. Instead, Barrett shows, we construct each instance of emotion through a unique interplay of brain, body, and culture.

Revolutionary
Revisado: 03-28-24
The shift from Newton's laws to Einstein's equations rocked the world of physics. This book on the theory of constructed emotion is doing the same for the brain fields of Neuroscience and Psychology.
Those of us with years of meditation experience and time with our minds have glimpsed this perspective from our 1st person view, but this outlines with great scientific rigor and sound philosophical logic, the evidence for a view of the human brain and mind that coincides with those meditative insights.
The classical model has misled us in thinking about the mind for too long, and this model of constructed emotion gives a better, more precise, more accurate framework with which to think about ourselves and others. I look forward to a world disillusioned of the classical idea and well steeped in the constructivist view.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.
