Historia
The firebombing of Tokyo. Strategic Air Command. John F. Kennedy. Dr. Strangelove. George Wallace. All of these have one man in common—General Curtis LeMay, who remains as enigmatic and controversial as he was in life. Until now. Warren Kozak traces the trajectory of America’s most infamous general, from his troubled background and heroic service in Europe to his firebombing of Tokyo, guardianship of the U.S. nuclear arsenal in the Cold War, frustrated career in government, and short-lived political run.

Great biography of misunderstood visionary
Revisado: 06-10-23
This was a well-written biography about one of the most innovative - and historically misunderstood military leaders. Well worth the read. The audiobook suffers from a reader who mispronounces at least one word every two to three minutes, which distracts from the outstanding content.

This Kind of War is a monumental study of the conflict that began in June 1950. Successive generations of U.S. military officers have considered this book an indispensable part of their education. T. R. Fehrenbach's narrative brings to life the harrowing and bloody battles that were fought up and down the Korean Peninsula.

Outstanding Book from 1964, Presages Vietnam
Revisado: 03-12-20
This was perhaps the most comprehensive book on the Korean war,I’ve ever read. It’s written by an officer who was on the ground in some of the worst of it. Along with accounts of battles and extensive first hand info and quotes, the author does a great job setting up the geopolitics and the cultural components in Korea, albeit from a 1964 perspective (not PC in parts by current standards). Amazing how the US
, esp Kennedy and Johnson, stumbled and bumbled into Vietnam with this nearly identical experience (with treacherous mountain terrain instead of jungles) fresh in hand. Fantastic read.

Historia
How did America become “one nation, indivisible”? What unified a growing number of disparate states into the modern country we recognize today? To answer these questions, Winchester follows in the footsteps of America’s most essential explorers, thinkers, and innovators. Introducing the fascinating people who played a pivotal role in creating today’s United States, he ponders whether the historic work of uniting the States has succeeded, and to what degree.

An amazing book - especially on audio
Revisado: 08-31-19
Simon Winchester never disappoints and this book never fails to delight - the audio is tremendous and read by the author in his soft and expressive English accent. He could read a menu at McDonald’s and it would be interesting. But the book is infinitely fascinating with this detail recounting of historic events that linked the US,, and contemporary looks at sites who’s history has been all but forgotten. A treasure.
