Historia
America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

Better children read X rated novels then this.
Revisado: 09-06-12
What disappointed you about Patriots?
This is not the worst book I ever tried to read, because I hooted with laughter over the ignorant scenes and reasoning. I mean really, when it comes to choosing the final things to bring and you are running out of room a person should choose the "family bible", not the First Aid Kit? I mean with the faith in God these folks were supposed to have you wouldn't think they needed so much in way of guns and ammunition.A can of beans costs over $100 but the heroes have enough money to stockpile gas at over $50 a gallon, while their neighbors starve? One could go on and on, and I could only handle about an hour of listening. I did do a lot of followup on the author's education, who first published this book and read many reviews pro and con. I really need to do more research before I buy a book, shame on me.
Would you ever listen to anything by James Wesley Rawles again?
NO
Would you be willing to try another one of Dick Hill’s performances?
Maybe....
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Sadness, that so many thought this is a book worth reading. I sure hope children before they are college graduates don't read this book.
Any additional comments?
The writer has not done his homework, or research on so many topics. Oh my goodness, with 135,000 blog followers, John Rawles made it to a position on the NY Times bestseller list. That is a list of sales made, in a week nothing else. Less then 60,000 of these books have actually been published.

Historia
Space is a world devoid of the things we need to live and thrive: air, gravity, hot showers, fresh produce, privacy, beer. Space exploration is in some ways an exploration of what it means to be human. How much can a person give up? How much weirdness can they take? What happens to you when you can’t walk for a year? Have sex? Smell flowers? What happens if you vomit in your helmet during a space walk? Is it possible for the human body to survive a bailout at 17,000 miles per hour?

Lots of interesting information
Revisado: 08-27-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Packing for Mars to be better than the print version?
Wouldn't know. However, the reason I love audiobooks is for the sound/sounds sometimes used and of course the narrators voice.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I agree with the philosophy, but there is so much playing on earth to be done.
Which character – as performed by Sandra Burr – was your favorite?
She simply narrates the authors information, no other characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Some information got a chuckle, and some a smile, mostly the mind went "oh that's how they did it".
Any additional comments?
This writer is good at collecting the interesting details of a topic, the type that is not normally written about. The facts unless you are curious, the general public simply does not want to think about. For this reason I very much enjoy Mary Roach's novels.

Historia
McCullough's John Adams has the sweep and vitality of a great novel. This is history on a grand scale, an audiobook about politics, war, and social issues, but also about human nature, love, religious faith, virtue, ambition, friendship, and betrayal, and the far-reaching consequences of noble ideas. Above all, it is an enthralling, often surprising story of one of the most important and fascinating Americans who ever lived.

Revisado: 07-17-12
Would you listen to American Gods: The Tenth Anniversary Edition (A Full Cast Production) again? Why?
Maybe, because there are so many nuances to grasp.
What was one of the most memorable moments of American Gods: The Tenth Anniversary Edition (A Full Cast Production)?
The revelation of the towns murderer.
Which scene was your favorite?
none
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not at all, way to much to digest all in one sitting
Any additional comments?
The end of the book becomes a bit bewildering and could have ended better I believe; however it is a long topic to cover with enthusiasm enough to cover such a long story. The writer did well, hence I gave it 5 stars, pretty heavy stuff.

"In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I dont think of myself as a victim. I survived...."

Can fiction ever be better then life?
Revisado: 05-06-12
What did you love best about A Stolen Life?
This is not a story I loved. It is a fascinating story of a piece of life that actually happened to someone. Fortunately, the author has excellent verbal abilities and the ability to analytically think. She describes the details very well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of course the victim of the story Jaycee Dugard.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, this is another book that is good paced.
Any additional comments?
This is an amazing example of a young child using her innate human intelligence to survive.

Historia
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Just had to follow the family into the War
Revisado: 05-06-12
Would you consider the audio edition of War and Remembrance to be better than the print version?
I consider all audio editions of books better than print version, due to voices and sound effects (occasionally used).
Who was your favorite character and why?
The long devoted, lover (albeit celebrate) of the forever stable stoic Colonel Henry.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scene where the younger brother stumbles into his sister's apartment to find she is truly a modern woman.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I savored both books and every part.
Any additional comments?
This story by the time you get to it after the "The Winds of War", is not as interesting but only by a little. The multiple characters and each ones reaction to the war years keeps the interest going. This is best ascribed to the pattern of the writing.
